Oyston to pay out.

The Odious Oystons. Football will always be better off without people like them. I just hope this doesn't end up killing Blackpool FC as a club and actually becomes the new beginning they desperately need.

Let’s hope so, if only for the fans sake. But finding the right buyer is no easy task. Football, past and present, is littered with the Oyston’s of this world. Venky’s, the 🤡’s at Charlton & Orient, Sisu etc etc. The Steve Gibson’s at Middlesbrough and, dare I say it, the Coates of this world are very few and far between.

Its one thing getting a judgement its another getting the money

This article says the first payment is due within 28 days - will be interesting to see what happens then...

I also like the idea that the Oyston's companies have to pay not the football club itself.

I suspect a rushed appeal and a stay of the payments until decided

According to that article they can go to the Court of Appeal but it suggests that the court have frozen their assets. I'm not sure how this works (no-one has managed to successfully obtain the OVF Towers biscuit millions yet) but I guess it's going to be fairly difficult for them to wriggle out of it. I think you're right though that it's one thing to demand the money, another to actually get it.

Why is it that the owners of football clubs are so often found to be morally bankrupt ? We have Premier League owners who have been in prison, this bunch at Blackpool, we've had foreign owners at some clubs that have been involved in all sorts.

Time to bring in a proper and reliable system of only allowing ownership of clubs by respectable and honest people.

I think you make a very valid point. The Guardian's excellent David Conn has very much echoed your view:

Unfortunately football especially clubs higher up the pyramid have 'sold their souls' for money and it is the root of all evil and will eventually ruin our beautiful game. Just look at Man City today, great if you are a City fan but really bad for the game in general.

The only way to control it is by limiting the amount of money that individual clubs can spend in a year but we all know that it won't happen because the people that run the Premiership are in the 'greed is good' camp.

It's reading things such as this that makes me so thankful we have Norman Smurthwaite as the owner of our club.

Praps it's because money is the route to all evil.
