Oyston to pay out.

The referee for Blackpool's game has been replaced as his name is Ben Toner. Apparently there has been a lot of social media humour about it, so the FL thought fit to spare him too much scrutiny.

For anyone who do not get it- Ben Toner (bent owner. I am sure the Oyston's didn't get it.

Its one thing getting a judgement its another getting the money

Agreed. I’ve not read the judgement but it all depends on where the liability falls; on them or the companies through which the funds were extracted. I think it’s the former and the reasonable outcome is relinquishing control of the club to Mr Belokon. I presume the £31m is not a figure plucked from the air and is a close approximation of the club’s holdings, with a bit of spending money chucked on top.

If it’s the latter, they could just wind them up & therefore extinguish the debt, which is not an equitable solution.

I bet the books from the last decade are an interesting read.

The Odious Oystons. Football will always be better off without people like them. I just hope this doesn't end up killing Blackpool FC as a club and actually becomes the new beginning they desperately need.

A lifetime Blackpool supporter I know has said just this - that the Oystons would destroy the club sooner than lose it. So the judgement may be a two edged sword for Blackpool as they, and not just the Oystons, could end up losing everything. So much for the football authorities' fit and proper persons test.

It is documented that in 1996 Owen Oyston was offered the chance to buy a controlling interest in Manchester United, but refused the offer as he 'did not want to desert Blackpool'.

How different might football history have been, especially for those 2 clubs but also generally, if he had taken over as Man United owner ? The mind boggles.....
