General Election 2017 pt 3 - Winners and losers

Reducing VAT was a failure, that's why it didn't last long.

The banks were not regulated tough enough, I used to work in that sector during the 90s (IFA) and trust me they got away with so much, we were monitored and had to account for everything and I am still accountable for everything I sold back then yet the banks were selling policies and screwing people over knowingly. You only have to look at PPI, I wasn't able to sell it as it wasn't a policy fit for purpose in 99% of cases.

Basically we let the banks do what they wanted to do and we all paid the price, but the Government at the time shouldn't have borrowed so much and put ourselves to their mercy. The recession hit the States hard but they recovered a lot quicker than we did.

The whole finance and banking sector in this corrupt criminal society we live in is full of sharks and as someone who has had to involve the finance ombudsman on several occasions recently I feel I know more than most .

Eg take these free for life credit score scam if any of you use noddle I suggest you don't as they suck u in for a so called free for life option then they have a systems algorythmn to deliberately low score you then encourage you to upgrade from the free option to a monthly subscription option and as if by magic ya score goes up significantly so the moral to the tale is beware free for life credit score providers like noddle !!

Is there anything that isn't corrupt, a farce or a conspiracy?

Having wasted 130 million quid on a ******* idiotic snap election and gifted the DUP 1.5 billion quid, the tories now decide that we can't afford to give nurses and the emergency services a pay rise. Every single conservative voted against the Labour proposal. Nice one, *****.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/blog/live/2017/jun/28/pmqs-may-corbyn-queens-speech-oliver-letwin-tory-and-cameron-policy-guru-says-taxes-should-go-up-to-fund-better-public-services-politics-live

A considerable number of nurses have had pay rises. They ALL got 1% increase and many, many more have received incremental increases up to as much as 3.8% over and above the 1%. It is a pay CAP not a reduction! Many people in the private sector have received NO increase or very small rises. Add to this the differential in pension benefits for public sector workers and they are not quite as hard done by as all you left-wingers claim.

At the end of the day, it still comes down to living within our means as a country and whichever way you package this argument up, it's all tax payers that contribute to any public sector pay increases. Are you seriously arguing for more tax rises? Please don't start trotting out all the socialist rubbish about "soaking the rich and corporation tax." The top 1% tax payers already contribite 30% of the total tax take and the lowering of corporation tax has in fact INCREASED the revenue received from this particular tax. Labour's profligate plans will inevitably penalise every tax payer and not just a few as they falsely claim.

I accept that there are some recruitment issues as far as nurses are concerned, but that's more to do with the European contingent that have gone back to their respective countries more because of the Brexit situation than the pay issues. As far as other areas of the public sector are concerned, if things are so very bad, they have a choice to give up their cosy pension arrangements and try their hand in the cut and thrust of the private sector where pensions and working practices are less protected.

Let us know how you get on re that algorithm thing as that is potentially criminal behaviour. In fact you should take that to the police if you haven't done so already. In fact given what you've said I think I might take it to them as that's a serious accusation and as I work in the finance sector not sure I can just ignore it

How is it a failure for people to have more money in their pockets? Spend more, then more in other people's pockets, speeding up circulation puts the country on its feet.

Cost price went down in very few cases. Shops and businesses benefited. The only way to give more money in to people's pockets is reduce income tax.

Doesn't help people who pay very little, VAT is the tax they pay the most of.
