It could rain tomorrow as well Walt. I aren't being funny but they will only sign if they don't get a better offer elsewhere.

Better not I need to let the brids out tomoz:razz:

I think I agree but I would urge the players to look at the whole well being and happiness. It is clear that Eagles has improved his fitness, ability to perform and influence under Michael Brown who has got the best out of him. Also Bikey has been without a club for a very long time, he should remember how good he felt when Vale signed him and try to keep that. Sam Foley apparently likes the club and living in this area. Does he really want to spend hours on a motorway to go to another club for a few extra quid but lose happy parts of his life outside football?

And me fella. I think I could be spending more time looking up into the blue skies in the coming months rather than down onto the pitch.

If Smurthwaite was a pigeon Ben you know where he would have been by now!.

Would love all 3 to stay; eagles was class. I like foley and bikey is a beast. Would be 3 starters next season especially with streete leaving.
Would be experience at the heart of the squad, perhaps indicating that the budget is competitive.

Eagles owes Brown as he took a gamble on him when it looked like he was on his way out as a footballer. Therefore rightly or wrongly am optimistic he will repay that debt and sign. Bikey likewise was a Brown gamble that paid off bringing him in from the wilderness. Ditto would like to think he will therefore sign. Foley I am hopeful as we need his drive and if he stays fit then also goals from midfield. However, feel he could be a target for a league 1 club just as we took him away from Yeovil when they got relegated.

Foley needs to do what is right for his family. He's 30 so this could be his last contract and he will probably get reduced terms at 32 for his next contract if that isn't the case. Looking at his career the best he can hope for is to be mortgage free at the end, so a decent signing on fee and 500 quid a week will make a difference to his life.

Bikey and Eagles are different. Looking at most of their careers they probably earned 10 - 15,000 a week, so with a modicum of common sense and allowing for tax they must still have several million invested. I don't think a division 1 or 2 wage will make a material difference to either's financial well being. A two year deal in the championship probably would, but if that's not on offer its whether they want (not need) to carry on playing football and then which manager they want to play for. If either of these 2 sign (the same goes for Pugh) I think I'd be pretty confident they won't have done it for the money. I'd also say the same about Brown as manager, whether he does well or badly he's doing it because he loves football as he probably earned more in a month at his peak than he's made in his Vale career to date.
