De Freitas and Periera leaving

I would also love to see De Freitas stay with decent pre season behind him. One of the very few I'd like to see next year.

I have it on fairly solid authority that Streete is leaving and Foley is moving on as well.

I heard the same a couple of weeks ago and Foley couldn't wait to get out of the Valiants Suite last weekend.

I think Foley would have other offers as would Streete, personally i think both can be replaced and if we can get Bikey fit and he signs then i dont mind Streete going, the problem is we have to offer him the same deal to get compensation and i aren't sure we will take that gamble(i say gamble because of the slight chance he could say yes to it)

I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised if Remie Streete is still with us next season, him and Nathan Smith have been the only real highlight for me this season, the best centre half pairing we've had for years and they'll both get better. If it were up to me I'd do my best to keep them both but I doubt there'll be much effort made in that direction.

I'd keep Foley too but again I can see him going as he probably won't be short of choice as a good proven player.

There's definitely a huge clearout coming and unfortunately we'll probably lose the few decent players we have as well as some dross and, worse still, we'll be stuck with the dross under contract because they've no incentive to leave.

Let's be frank. There is very little chance at all that Streete, Smith or Foley will stay. All will get better offers and all will want to play at a higher level. It's understandable.

It's therefore going to be an even bigger rebuilding job than last summer - and that was bad enough.

This time we don't have a solid core of players to build a team around and it's going to be an absolutely enormously difficult task.

I hope that Bikey can be persuaded to stay on as captain. I'd like Eagles as well. But now I'm struggling ....

God help the manager trying to build a completely new team from scratch.

I agree.

Also Purkiss, Pugh and perhaps Kelly at Lge 2 level would be worth a go. We also have 7 of Bruno's signings on the books plus the perenially injured Forrester for next season, the more of these players that leave the better but players like Tavares and Mbamba will not go anywhere 'cause their contracts are so lucrative.

If Smith does go I hope Vale get a shed load for him to enable the rebuild of the squad.

With the exception of smith, street, foley, bikay and eagles (none of which I expect to stay) I don't care who leaves. None were good enough. We are basically exactly where we were 12 months ago after a massive clear our ... but without the luck for the new manager of the few good players that we had left then.

Did you not read the word "Perhaps". Kelly is a creative player and just like all creative players is not gonna be "on" every minute of a game or even every game, this season hasn't been a good season for him but in Lge 2 he might prosper.

It's easier to destroy in a football game than create, hence creative players are harder to find hence why it's important to try and keep Chris Eagles. Just my opinion.

Ok. My opinion though is that Kelly should be released. If we have to rely on him "coming good" next season then we will have a long wait. Away from Vale Park in particular he has looked awful and I want players in the team who show willing to aid the cause. He fills me with no confidence. We need in division 2 fighters and lads who have pride in their shirt. My opinion of course.

And mine, he should be nowhere near Vale Park again except to pick up his p45.

You raise a good point in terms of what we need in Lge 2, Vale do need fighters but we also need at least a couple of skilled, creative players, who are not usually the most combative players, to create chances......for the couple of goal scoring stikers we're gonna sign. MA showed us the type of team to get out of Lge 2, hopefully funds will be available.
