Praise (ish) where it's due

I witnessed a cash turnstile onto the Paddock doing no business yesterday - just as we all predicted. Quite why they couldn't handle season tickets as well heaven knows!

However, people wanted a cash turnstile and got one. Not at any reduced cost, but cash admission was available.

More importantly for me anyway was the decision to allow away fans to sit behind the goal if they wanted to - and at least half of the Swindon fans seemed to do so.

Miraculously, there were no marauding gangs of hooligans hurling rocket-propelled missiles at each other, and the police horses weren't required to leave the stables.

Instead, we had some genuinely decent efforts at making some noise and both Michael Brown and JJ Hooper mentioned the difference the supporters made with their vocal backing.

I'm not saying for one second it was ALL down to chanting between home and away fans, but for once it felt like a football match and not a county cricket game.

The point is, the club on this occasion HAVE listened and acted. Particularly with the away fans issue, it would have been easy for Vale to hide behind some Health and Safety/Police "advice" crap and ignore us. They didn't. They took on board the feelings of significant number of fans and did something about it.

Nice one Vale!!

Actually they were on a hat-trick of achievements yesterday. The ticket office was open after the game which enabled me to pick up tickets for Cobblers away.

There was no announcement however to say it would be open, so that's not ideal!

But maybe they are finally listening to fans who come up with well-intended observations and acting on them. It's amazing how far a little effort goes.

I read somewhere that the ticket office would be open after the game to get the two for £30'tickets but I can't remember where.

Noticeable was the official social media site, who plugged the game very well and continued with the buzz after the game.

It's the little things that make a big difference.

I agree. Not sure if someone different is running it, but it's being used so much better over the last few days.

Possibly, he's been forgotten about by the more vocal anti smurf posters.

Not by me. I said as much on the questions thread. Hopefully we can start to see him a lot more, and see words put into action. Considering the way Smurf has spoken to fans over the last few years, so long as Colin didn't come out sticking his fingers up telling people where go, it would have been an improvement.

So if I have a ticket from Swindon game, I can get to the next 2 games for combined total of £30, is this correct, and what if I can only attend one of these games , is it usual £22 . I am just enquiring for someone.

That's as I understand it. You can get 2 for £30 and give the other ticket to someone else who can attend for £15.

If the Bristol Rovers fans had been given the middle block they would have tried to push over to the Railway paddock even more than they did.

The atmosphere was down to the battling team performance that fired the crowd up when they realised the lads were up for a scrap.

And done what? Jumped over a wall, past the police and stewards and into the Paddock? Highly unlikely.

Anyway as I said it wasn't necessarily down to the away fans being allowed to sit where they wanted to.

It was a good atmosphere, full stop.
