Yeah it's classic lazy jounalism as far as I can see. He's based with a Portuguese club so clearly the Scottish Sun journo thinks we're still making Ribeiro signings from overseas.

 

I've put it on the front of OVF but I think I've made it clear I don't believe a word of it.

Alan Nixon always used to seem quite well-informed and has worked for one or two of the English national papers. I remember hearing him say that Rudge was going to be sacked a day or two before it happened.

Alan Nixon used to write bits for the Radio Stoke preview magazine thing back in the 90s if memory serves. Back then he used to write for the Sunday Sport.

Nearly 29 years old, with 138 appearances spread across a decade in the Russian/Portuguese/Iranian leagues. Not that I've ever seen him play, but at our stage in the season, when we're looking for a first choice keeper, no thanks.

Ideally we'll sign a tested goalkeeper that's had plenty of games on these shores, but that might be rather more difficult than some people think. I'd rather have a 29 year old full International in my starting 11 than a rookie goalkeeper every day of the week.

I wouldn't mind that either, but preferably at this stage we need somebody who can settle in immediately, & doesn't have to get used to a new country/football style etc. Yes, I know he's a keeper, but still it's all very different over here, & a lot of the signings we made in the summer clearly struggled. This would be a very Bruno-ish signing IMO.

 

Also, from what I recall, the reception following Jak's signing was very good actually!
