Rowe not even on Macclesfield bench today. What does that tell us? We haven't paid proper money for a player since bigger knows when. Luke Rodgers was 35k if I remember right, and how long ago was that. Speaking if whom, anyone can take a penalty? Except Rodgers who missed TWO at Chasetown culminating in us buying Perry and that other clown. Cause and effect eh?

He didn't get a kick at the Terriers and though he saw a lot of the ball last night for the first 25 minutes his crossing, I thought, was very poor, and he disappeared completely from the game in the second half.

 

We looked desperately short of a wide player last night after half time. The full backs as we've said don't get forward to the byline any more and we don't have any trickery/pace down the flanks, especially when Thomas is off form, although he has never been lightening fast anyway.

 

A good, quick winger would be a big asset.

Didn't he make the pass back to Knops that gave them the first goal.

It was a poor and silly pass by Thomas, I don't know why he even turned and played it back, can't blame that on Knops.

Agreed, it was Thomas' fault but I thought that Knops should have taken one for the team and not let the lad get past him and away so easily.

 

But these things can and do happen when you haven't got a settled XI and Knops finds himself with Thomas and not Kelly in front of him this week.

According to the latest Derek I'm Gutted we paid £20,000 for Cicilia. I think I do recall Smurthwaite saying that we'd paid a fee for one of the foreign signings last Summer but I never saw the amount involved or which player it was for.

Approx 75% of pens are scored, and of course the most traumatic game in recent history will stick in the mind for obvious reasons, namely the missed penalties. However, to be sticking up for a player because he can score a penalty is just daft.

 

It's sad for the guy that his career was halted by a bad injury. But it happens. We're not a charity and his first touch, passing and general commitment to the cause have left a lot to be desired. We will be a far better side without him.

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't keep Taylor on for what he has shown so far. I certainly wouldn't keep a bloke in a shirt just to take a penalty. Taylor's forte was supposed to be the dead ball but it's turned out to be a dot ball anyway. To actually offer money for a player lifts the spirits and I hope it comes off for us. The lad wanting to come and play for us doubly so.

I always find it really interesting how different people's views can be on the same thing with football. It's great really and makes talking about so entertaining.

 

For what it's worth, I thought taylor did ok for us.

 

I thought he obviously had some quality in him and took good set pieces. Also chipped in with 4 goals.

 

He hadn't got that match sharpness due to not playing for so long.

 

He'll go to a decent club Ill bet. And higher than this league.

Thought Taylor had one of his better games for us last night .However, considering his pedigree never thought it showed often enough. Lets hope Brown can bring in more like Guy who made a tremendous impact in his first game.
