Approx 75% of pens are scored, and of course the most traumatic game in recent history will stick in the mind for obvious reasons, namely the missed penalties. However, to be sticking up for a player because he can score a penalty is just daft.

 

It's sad for the guy that his career was halted by a bad injury. But it happens. We're not a charity and his first touch, passing and general commitment to the cause have left a lot to be desired. We will be a far better side without him.

 

Taking penalties is a real skill and a number of strikers who are signed to score goals can't score them like Popey.

 

To sign him just for that reason would be folly but make no mistake it's an absolutely key skill.

Agreed. Rico has always been quality at them, Walker, Glover and Rodgers to name but 3 were not great at them

Thought Taylor had a better game fri. Night put himself around a bit more than usual and and getting forward more, missed a couple of chances, should at least have worked the keeper.will improve with fitness level. Would like him to stay till end of season.putting himself in the window for potential new employers.

i thought neil griffiths was quality. Banged his pens straight down the middle every time. Don't remember him ever trying to place one and can't remember him ever not scoring. The keeper would not stop it even if he had a hand to it. Anyway, thanks for helping us out ryan. Good luck for the future.
