Eagles and Guy sign

CAVALIER

Looking at the Derby County website it says that Guy was originally a winger who switched to a central role and that he contributed a "number of fine displays and goals" for the U21s which makes it sound like he can provide an attacking threat. He was captain of the U18s and player of the season for the U21s.

Eagles who was released by Bury and Accrington.?

But that was then - he could have been injured, he could have not settled, any number of factors - surely the more important thing is what he can offer Vale not who he's played for prior to joining us.

Positive news. Hopefully Browny will get the best out of Eagles which would give us a very good player and although I have no idea about the ability of Guy midfield is an area we have been sadly lacking in since the demise of the Grant / Foley partnership since Sam got injured. If we've missed a player this season it's him.

After all the doom and gloom in recent weeks this is excellent news.

We do need more creativity in midfield because Taylor isn't up to it and might leave anyway, and I don't rate Tavares as an attacking player.

It's got to be positive for us.

The only reservation we might have is with Eagles fitness/attitude/recent record, because he's been released twice by clubs lower than us but if Brown can make him tick he could be exceptional at this level and a very very useful addition indeed.

Good news. No heartache tonight for me.

Maybe so, but if he was any good he wouldn't come Vale, would he? People were going crazy on here when we signed Taylor, and look how hes turned out. And we must now have one of the oldest sides in the division. Eagles signing seems desperate to me by the Vale, and its a gamble i really hope pays off.

Point taken and it's a fair one but I suppose we are pretty desperate at the moment because the way we've been paying lately makes you wonder where our points are coming from. And as I've said before, in January 99% of the good players are already attached to a club. It's only young lads or those without a job who we'll be signing. We are not going to offer 100k for a player, I'm sorry to say.

A mate of mine who supports Bolton says about Eagles:

"Good signing, I always liked him. Won't put a foot in and will go missing in a 50/50 but that's not what he's about".

Just hope he's still got it.

Sounds a little like Sage's lovechild.
