None League Attendances.

From somebody who is involved in non league football thought I would mention how good some of the attendances at the lower tiers of football are.

Nearly 2000 at Stafford Rangers yesterday, and 7274 at Tranmere to name two.

Stockport, Salford, Fc United etc getting some bumper gates depending on the opposition.

Hereford are getting the same sometimes better attendances that when they were on the football league before they went bust

All about the price

FC United do a 'pay what you can afford' season ticket. If I won zillions on the lottery, I would sponsor an initiative like that over the signing of players etc.

I think many non-league clubs have been extremely forward thinking in terms of attracting fans. It's obviously a lot easier for them to be creative as they're working on a much smaller scale and don't have a large(ish) existing fanbase to unsettle but I really do think that it should be something that Norman's taking a look at. Dunno whether S-o-T is ready for hipster football though...

Do they charge 20+ quid to get in?

Tranmere was cheaper than Port Vale last season. £20 comes to mind, think it is £20 in advance and £22 on the day this season. Prenton Park is also a better stadium than Vale Park. I went to a couple of games - dire - including v Wrexham when there were circa 7,500 there. There is a more unified support base at Tranmere than Port Vale, I'm not sure why. If Port Vale was Tranmere support would have dropped off a cliff edge to 2,000 or less. But Tranmere still has a hardcore of 5,000. That is even though many Tranmere supporters also support Liverpool or Everton.
