But what is our price range?

Is Smurf prepared to push the boat out for a proven scorer?

With the "savings" from the ones we are loaning out realistically how much do we think we can go to and more importantly will that "higher wage" upset the likes of Grant etc?

I think its time to add an experienced forward, Im very encouraged by some of our signings, young players with potential. Sadly and I know it was a brief glimpse but Alex Jones showed far more of a footballing brain in his brief Cameo than Hooper did all match. I was eager for Hooper to push on, he may well do this season, however we cant escape the fact that the team is lacking in goals.

I agree on Jones,I think he'll score the goals.A loan signing of more experience may help in the short term but I really don't want a team full of journeymen.

Not if the chairman REALLY puts his money in it. Instead of crowing on twitter that he has funded all these 30+ players we do not need.

A squad of 23 + Le Fondre would not be far off the budget now.

A goalscorer will get us up there.

Rubbish- ALF's wages are out of our league

The thing is, deano, Hooper had scored more League One goals than any other striker in the squad so we put him on the wing. It just didn't make sense to me and I couldn't understand the logic.

I think the logic is that Bruno wants to play this odd system of one up front and two out wide, supported by a midfielder breaking forward.

The problem with that is that we don't have players who are good enough/suitable to play that way. So we've got Hooper on the wing, Cecilia seems to be his first choice up front (no goalscoring pedigree, even in Holland), Thomas on the other wing (hardly prolific and not yet 100% fit), and then Foley trying to get forward, but again not someone who is going to get us a lot of goals. Committed and wholehearted but not a natural goalscorer.

So, for me, we're playing this rigid system in which we don't have enough proven goalscorers/creators in the team.

At least it appears we are after a fast winger and a striker so they know we've got a problem in attack.

I was looking forward to seeing Hooper and one another up front in tandem this season as I thought he had the makings of a decent player but managers all have their own ideas.

I get where you are coming from, however if you were to ask me who out of the limited choices we have to play as a lone striker it would be forrester
