Great news, the MW signal in my area was terrible at times. Get 20 minutes into the game or something then all of a sudden it would just cut out.

I normally watch the match live with my portable FM/MW radio in hand, looks like I need a DAB on now which is fine.

What I want to know is why they cant broadcast from the website???? some guff about broadcasting rights!!! whats the problem if you are in Dubai and you want to listen to Vale on the internet!!!

 

It's the same with all BBC local radio commentaries. I can't listen to a BBC Newcastle commentary in Stoke. It's part of the deal. There's probably an app for your phone that lets you do it but both of the Radio apps I have put a block on listening outside the area as well.

Absolutely chuffed with this. Since I've been living in Oldham I can pick up Radio Stoke on DAB. Its odd because I couldn't get it in Stockport which is closer, maybe because Oldham is at a higher altitude?

 

Anyways- now when the Vale are on a far flung away day I cant afford/be arsed to go to I can listen on't wireless!!

I do the same ,think a lot of fans go the vale and have commentary on at the same time . Not sure if I have ever seen a small dab radio I can take in my pocket so if anyone knows of a good un please let me know

I don't use this particular model but I find Roberts have a well deserved reputation as quality radio makers. This is pricey but looks to be ideal for the purpose:

A bit annoying for longer distance Vale fans as I could pick up the MW signal to audible quality even in Milton Keynes!

 

Not sure how, or why, but I just started being able to get Radio Stoke on my freeview channel 734 - even though many other local stations are nearer to Preston where I live (Manchester and Liverpool ones for example). I await with interest to see whether match commentaries will be on there.

Don't remember being consulted about this by Radio Stoke .They have missed an opportunity to be the main supplier of match day opinion and commentary with the Sentinel being banned from the ground .I Live in Biddulph and reception of FM is bad and DAB is even worse just another kick in the nuts from Radio Stoke I suppose it is what it says on the tin (Stoke)

This is the best of both worlds. Small enough to go in your pocket but with a speaker so you can use it without headphones if you want.

That's a good price as well although I realise it's not cheap.

 

Just remember, DAB radios are very heavy on battery usage. The one above has a built in rechargeable battery so you just stick it one charge before you go to the game. It has FM but not MW by the way.
