The Price Of Supporting the Vale.

It also doesn't take into account the free programmes lots of us get.

But it does (and I've said this before) offer other lazy stereotypes. The "cost of a pie" for instance - what decade are we in? What next - the cost of a cup of Bovril? The price to allow your whippet into the ground?

Not all football fans have to have a pie every match as the calculator seems to suggest Could they not be a little less lazy and stereotyped with this report.

It's a decent idea but flawed in the execution, in my opinion. There's no level playing-field in football - some clubs have lower ticket prices because they want to get people in, others are higher because they are in more affluent areas, have to recoup the costs of building a squad or have more prestigious fixtures, some prices are more expensive because the facilities are better - none of which is considered.

Don't see the fuss about them including pies. They're trying to cost the 'matchday experience' and if a fan is going to buy food at a ground, it will more than likely be a pie. Would you prefer them to state how much it would cost to buy a lovely asparagus frittata? If it seems outdated, it is only because it accurately refelects the catering at most grounds.

It's a bit patronising that it looks at the price of a pie..is that really so crucial to the 'modern' fan?? Seems some at the BBC think so

I can just hear the muttering from Crystal Palace fans: "Well Pardew may have brought in some great new players, we may be fourth in the League, we may be playing some of the best football for ages, but FOUR pounds for a pie, that's the highest in the Premier League... I'm off to Stamford Bridge where they are £1.50 cheaper..."

I don't agree. Yes, clearly they need to reflect the food that is on offer but does the food even need to be there because it's reinforcing old-fashioned stereotypes and not an accurate measure of value for money.

Just like the ticket prices (which don't reflect if its seating/standing/the level of comfort etc) the price of food, even pies, depends on the brand, the quality and so on. For instance, £3 for a locally produced, fresh product over £2.50 for a manky mass-produced one - which is best? On the BBC, it's simply the cheapest so it takes no account of clubs who offer good catering and those that don't.

If we were bank rolled by a billionaire and in the prem we could charge 200 quid for a season ticket , you cant tell me stoke would be so cheap if Coates or alike werent in charge , they are not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts .

£200 is good way of doubling the S/ticket sales?
