I thought that was absolutely marvellous to watch. I thought Alnwick had his best game for us. The entire back four were majestic. Grant plays the game like he's on the beach. Foley showed great character to get his goal after the pen miss. The two wingers were excellent. Dodds was outstanding and could have had a hat-trick had their keeper not been playing out of his skin. Uche was immense. Their centre backs will be having nightmares about him for weeks to come.

 

Don't forget we were playing a team who had only let in one goal in three games and that was the walk over goal by Bury. Yet we could have been in double figures but for the outstanding performance by their keeper.

 

The crowd was indeed disappointing but to slightly misquote Bill Shakespeare's Henry V, "Those in Boslem now abed will think themselves accursed they were not there"!

Shows how far we've come since last season that we can be 2-0 after 46 mins and I feel like we've got it in the bag. Last season, 44 minutes would be more than enough for us to mess things up with our own stupidity. A huge improvement

Couldn't agree more mate. Great summary. Tell your old man to swallow his pride and get down the vale. We need all the fans we can get. He's missing out.

 

Mum will get fed up of him being at home every Saturday, soon enough, so he'll probably have no choice 😉

First things first; another slice of Page humble pie for me. That was the best performance I've seen at Vale Park in many a year. I thought the football we played prior to AJ coming on was fantastic, but when he came on and linked with Dodds and Moore, it was brilliant to watch. Which leads me on to Pages substitutions; Donny couldn't handle Uche for almost all of the 70 mins he was on the pitch but, when I thought they were realising how to play him, AJ comes on and gives them something completely different to deal with and the Donny defence were all at sea again. The rotation of AJ and Uche is going to be important for us going forward I think.

 

And whilst to a man, everyone played a part, I would like to single out the much maligned Louis Dodds. The majority of our chances came through him today and he is excelling in the "number 10" role in my opinion. A goal and two assists in the last three matches, you can't ask for more than that, 3 key contributions in three games. I honestly think he will be a key player for us this season. The amount of clever defence splitting passes he played, brilliant, and as the team grows together, the forwards will hopefully read his clever little passes even more. Give Louis clever players to play with, and I think he'll shine, as he is showing.

 

I don't want to get my hopes up.....but I can't help it.
