Capital One Cup: 2nd Round; away to WBA

We played them in the 2nd round of the League Cup in 1985/86 after beating Wigan,we lost 1-0 away in front of 6,218 and then drew 2-2 at Vale Park where 7,985 attended.

Yeah that's right. I thought we lost the away leg 2-0. I remember we outplayed them at VP but went 2 down but scored 2 in about the last 15. Also remember Garth Crooks played for them and elbowing Webby in the face.

But, Jesus, 30 years ago?

I would hope so. They got 11,000 at this stage last year against Oxford who took 2,000 so I'd be hopeful of getting 12,000. It's near enough for most folk to make it after work as well assuming a 5 pm finish.

Ticket details for that game were :-

Oxford United have been given an initial allocation of 2,800 tickets in the covered Smethwick Road End behind the goal.

Advance ticket prices are £10 for all supporters, other than under 17s who pay £5

On the day prices rise to £15 and £10 for under 17s

You'd imagine it will be the same for our game. Their evening home games all seem to kick-off at 8pm.

Last time I went the home supporters were lobbing house bricks over the exit gates, as we tried to leave the ground. would have been the same match.

I remember that too. I was 10 or 11. There were a few women and kids there. They were throwing bricks and stones indiscriminately. Fortunately none hit me or anyone I saw. Some classy fans.

Always hated the boing boing chant.

It wasnt that game. I was at the game you were on about andi think it was the 1-1 draw in March 1996.

Me too- didn't we nick a point right at the death? They were not happy, not one bit!

I'm really looking forward to this one. I've always quite liked West Brom for two reasons- 1- family friends support them & 2- I really don't like the Wolves

I think you're right Spunkers, their fans had either left early to ambush us on the way out or had everything planned and got their pretty sharpish.

Not a policeman in sight either. Hopefully the behaviour will be a lot better now. I fancy us to beat them and don't want a house brick as a leaving gift!
