Of course, our beloved Queen and Prince Philip, who some would say are not entirely of totally /british descent

How many of us are of totally British descent?

, show respect to the animals they hunt for their so-called 'sport', and in Phyllis's case they people he insults on an almost daily basis who pay for his parasitic upkeep.

He's a veteran of WWII where he fought for us and an old man so I see no problem with us looking after him

It's called brainwashing.

Yes, and there are 88 guns per 100 people.

Number killed in terrorist attacks since 9/11 in US - less tnan 100.

Number killed in gun murders since 9/11 in US - over 100,000

1,000 times the chance of being gunned down than killed by a terrorist.

Heard that yesterday..that is a damning statistic

Nope..who is TP to tell him how to behave in this context!??!??!?!

Simply put, sport and politics don't mix.

West Brom will not put up with this kind of behaviour, especially after the Anelka incident.TP's remit as a manager will be to keep the Albion fans happy, nuture team spirit and of course get results.McClean is living in the past and a rebel player will not help him to achieve this.

The British descent doesn't matter to me - but it seemed to for guppy, hence the comparison, if you check his quoted post.

Phillys may be a WW2 veteran, but he doesn't have to be the royal version of Sid Vicious crossed with Bernard Manning and Pol Pot, some manners to innocent members of the public who are too polite not to slap his face which is what he deserved from those women.

He plays on the fact that they are probably overawed by royalty who they expect to be genteel and have some manners, and takes advantage - a cheap bully, who deserves no respect from anyone.

Those are really alarming statistics and are something that Obama desperately wants to improve.

It's both sad and funny how Americans cling to their 'right' to own guns. It's just an ingrained part of the national (paranoid) mentality unfortunately and ironically it makes them all less safe rather than more.

See you watched Obama's interview too. I thought he spoke exceptionally well but it will fall on deaf ears very sadly because every idiot and loon has the right to carry a gun over there!

That said that's no reason to abuse their flag either.

I think of you as one of the more sensible posters on here but this is just bizarre. I don't stand for or join in with the national anthem; should I bugger off too? I think McClean handled the whole situation very maturely. Why the **** are West Brom playing the national anthem is some stupid friendly anyway.

I don't live in the country of my birth, the USA gave me the opportunity to provide for my family for which I'm very grateful hence when I'm at an event where the American National Anthem is played I choose to stand like everyone else and face the same way as everyone else, I don't sing the anthem, in effect it's my way of showing respect and a way of saying thank you for the opportunity presented to me. If I chose to turn my back or didn't stand I would expect to be challenged. I have no problem with McClean not singing the anthem but consider him turning his back an insult to the people and the country that has given him the opportunity to provide for himself and his family.

I agree with you as to why the anthem was played. As to "Should you bugger off", I hope not 'cause Vale need all the fans they can get.:)

McLean may well be living in the last but that's up to him

Mclean didn't make some sort of pro IRA or anti British gesture he just didn't take part in something he does not believe in and for me it's not TP's placer to try makes him do so..for me it's very different to what Anelka did but I can appreciate that the club may be sensitive about such things because of what he did

He didn't turn his back on the flag. :banghead:

Quote beneath the picture, "McClean was pictured with his back to the Union Flag as 'God Save The Queen' played during a pre-season friendly in the US", admittedly can't see the flag on the picture but he's facing a different way from the rest of his team mates.
