its quite simple, over the past couple of seasons chris birchall has been a fringe player, making the majority of his appearances from the bench or simply keeping the bench warm.

 

he hasn't had the impact of seasons gone by, isn't as fit and quick as he once was.

 

his reduced contract offer reflects the reduced impact on the first team.

 

chris, please fell free to prove me wrong - start the season off playing like the CB of old and then knock on the door of NS and RP and ask for a better contract.

I think you will find most older vale fans had the clockwork removed and the key hole bunged up some time ago... so its no use trying to wind them up with dross and naval lint
