Summer Transfers

I've been pleased with Liverpool's business so far. I'm not a fan of Milner but he's a very consistent Premier League player and strengthens the squad. Firmino has the potential to be a star, although nobody can know for sure until he's had at least 16 months in this country, and Clyne is a cracking signing for the money paid for him. Ings I'm not keen on but he's a player that will give his all and is young enough to continue to improve.

Liverpool still need another centre-back and another established striker.

I get more and more worried for you each day beechy, henderson captain now.... the lad i work with is a big liverpool fan and even hes worried, reckons you still need a decent forward and a centre back, but hes happy with the midfield....

Henderson is a decent player and has a fantastic attitude. He's no world-beater and certainly no Gerrard, but his improvement over the last year or two has been clear to see. For me he's an ideal captain, although Martin Skrtel must have also been in contention.

At the moment Liverpool's starting 11 will look something like this with everyone fit and available -

Mignolet

Clyne

Skrtel

Sakho/Lovren

Moreno

Milner

Henderson

Coutinho

Lallana/Ibe

Firmino

Sturridge

That's not a bad team at all on paper, depending on how quickly Firmino settles. Sakho isn't an ideal first-teamer and Lovren needs to prove himself in a Liverpool shirt. Sturridge can't have another season like the one he just had, and hopefully won't, but if he's injured for any portion of the season I wouldn't trust any of Ings/Origi/Lambert/Balotelli to do the job, and therefore another quality forward before the season gets underway is a must.

Confirmed Glen Johnson has joined SCFC...to replace him Liverpool need another overpriced overrated inconsistent full back..Kyle Walker would be ideal

Clyne is a more than adequate replacement. Afterall, he was arguably the best right-back in the league last season.

Actually it's Given for Begovic and Jakob Haugaard for Sorensen but Butland will be number one with Given as experienced cover. Butland will be a superb keeper I'm convinced of it.

Don't tell me, this is the year that we're going down finally.......... :D

No that's 'Andy Jones' job! ;)

They seem to have sourced players well so far. I'd imagine top ten again. I think Shaquiri is too ambitious for them at present.

I haven't kept tabs on all the comings and goings but aren't Liverpool falling into the same trap as last year - and buying a great many average/good players rather than say three world class ones? Losing Stevie G and probably Sterling leaves a huge hole to fill in what is, without them, a very ordinary team.

I do like Clyne (very similar to Johnson) and Milner. Ings I'm not much for, based on his under 21 showing. Who else have they signed?

It's amazing him dim Rodgers is, he was the first to spout off about Spurs spending £100m and where hey should be and he's now on the verge of doing it twice and going backwards quicker each time!

....and then world domination!

You do chat some utter guff and codswallop sometimes

Yep he was personally responsible for 5 of the 6 goals in the recent hammering at The Brit. Oh wait he didn't play...... :D

Johnson has been brought in as he can play either full back position, he's experienced and adds to the "homegrown" quota. Decent squad player that's all......

Johnson isn't a bad player and is a decent signing by your lot. His time was over at Liverpool and perhaps a new club will give him a new lease of life. But he's taken an awful lot of stick on here and isn't half as bad as most try to make out.

Fantastic signing by Newcastle United today in Georginio Wijnaldum. Believe me, don't be surprised if he turns out to be the signing of the season no matter how well United do or don't do. Outstanding young player.

Better signing for Man Utd.Another worldly to add to Depay and Darmian.MU and Bayern have agreed a deal for Schweinsteiger.

A lot of these lads are foreign imports and I know nowt about them apart from the fact that they are making life difficult for young English lads to gain experience.

At present, at the back, Liverpool have only exchanged Johnson for Clyne and that surely has to be a big worry.

Defensively they are awful.

Mignolet isn't up to Liverpool standards. They've had some great keepers overs the years - Lawrence, Clemence, Grobbelaar - but Mignolet isn't among them. I can't believe he's the number one. A bloke off the Kop wearing a blindfold could do better. ;)

Yes- that German bloke with the long name is quality and will improve Utd no end.

Anyone who watches Liverpool on a regular basis, even if it's only on TV for the vast majority, will know that a lot of the goals Liverpool conceded not only last season but the one before that was because Gerrard left the defense exposed on the counter time after time. He'll always have quality on the ball but his legs have been gone for a few years and Liverpool paid the price. Rodgers wouldn't drop him because of who Gerrard is, even though Lucas is much better suited to the holding role when fit.

Clyne is an improvement over Johnson and Lovren will hopefully have a much better season and showed the same form he did that got him his big money move from Southampton. I'm sure Liverpool will make at least another two signings before the season gets underway, probably three, and one of them will more than likely be a defender.

Mingolet is decent too, certainly not anything like as poor as you're making out. In all honesty you've probably seen him make one or two blunders on TV over the season and have based your judgement on that. The fact is he was actually one of Liverpool's better players in the second half of the season, despite making the odd mistake here and there.

Schewinsteiger is a fantastic player, one I've admired for years and will be not only an excellent addition to United's squad but also the Premier League in general. But he's 30 and is a short-term signing. Darmian is a solid full-back and a sensible signing, while Depay has a lot of potential. But Wijnaldum is a tremendous signing for what is ultimately a mid-table Premiership club.
