£1.7Million budget is actually on a par.

Recommended Posts

Whist most fans seem to be suicidal at the thought of the budget been cut, I've had a look to see what other Clubs tend to be spending on wages.

It seems Oldham have slashed theirs, Crewe I would say could only dream of an owner like Smurf. Yes I know we should be aiming higher but until Fans come out the woodwork, we arn't getting thousands more every week.

I then came across Swindon's from last Season. It was £1.8 Million with their Chairman refusing to put anymore in, infact saying he might reduce that figure. That was on gates of 8000. They could potentially get promotion on that. So £1.7 Million is actually a good figure.

Now we just have to find ways of increasing the fan base.

What isn't disclosed though by the Swindon boss which is they seem to be able to bring in good quality loan players. In fact a mate was talking to a Swindon fan before their game at Vale Park and they had just recruited 4 loanees and they all played in the game.

Agreed OS and it should be a route the Club uses more.

I read that Chesterfield budget this season was 1.6 million, they didn't do to bad getting in the playoffs, as some have said it's how well you use it that counts and at the end of the day the club has to live within it's means as our last 2 spells in administration should warn people against overspending/being poorly run.

I think someone is telling porkies in regard of the Spirites budget.

It's Baden Powell isn't it? ;)

It was George Foster wasn't it when Adams was here? Has he departed?

Is there any value in having a few part-time scouts on small wages? I guess you can spot a decent player if you attend games a lot and I'm sure some folk would do so for a nominal sum, if they enjoy attending games.

But do we need one chief scout to take the final decision before the manager has his say?

Don't clubs use videos and stats now to sign players?

There are differences in the way budgets are reported though. Some clubs release figures just for purely first team wages. Others include all football wages (reserves, youth etc) and others also include non playing staff. Not sure which ours falls into.
