I would have wanted to know that my money wasn't just simply going to be wasted.I would want to know that his (Pages) plans were going to build the buzz,bring back hope,sell more season ticket's,get more fans to the game's.If I was told that the supposed big much needed clear out would mean keeping the same useless defence.Then I would start reviewing my options for the position of manager.

If a player is on £1000 pw and his pay is cut to £500 pw because he is crap then that is NOT a saving of £500 it is a waste of £500.Because that player is still crap and the money could be put to better use.

That would have been the time to ask what his plans were to improve the team.Who he would like to get in(within reason)Who he would offload.

 

Smurf would not have to give an opinion an any of the players because the very fact that he would be keeping the same useless defence would have been time to stand up from his chair,pick up the contract from the table and ask Page to put it into the shredder on his way out of the office.Then move onto plan B.

Again... If the contract offer reflects the players value/worth to the club... and its a very low offer or contains clauses that are demeaning why bother making the offer... if your offering a fiver a week because thats all he is worth why the hell would you want him if your building a progressive team... so why make the offer?
