The 07/08 and 08/09 defences have to be up there in the discussion. Justin Miller, Chris Slater to name but two.

We managed to beat Spurs with Kevin Steggles at right back...:D

 

 

Last night was very poor but some defenders from the late 70's early 80's were probably worse.

I would nominate the 1983-84 defence (7-0 to Burnley anyone?) with Gary Pollard and Wayne Cegielski (a shadow of the previous season's player) among the culprits. We finished that season with a goal difference of -32.

 

I would also remind the original poster that Kevin Steggles (despite his many faults) was part of the team that defeated Spurs so he wasn't all that bad. I would nominate Wayne Ebanks and Lawrie Pearson as worse full-backs than Steggles!

ive been saying since last season/start of this, any defence that has a combination of 2 or more of Dicko, McGivern, Robertson and Yates will not get out of this league. Not good enough.

 

We lack commanding centre backs that are composed on the ball and attacking full backs (that can defend), look at Bristol and Swindon as two examples. The games moved on from the 1990s, we haven't.

Delgardo was brilliant when he played against us. I always believed the player we signed must have been a ringer.
