I would nominate the 1983-84 defence (7-0 to Burnley anyone?) with Gary Pollard and Wayne Cegielski (a shadow of the previous season's player) among the culprits. We finished that season with a goal difference of -32.

 

I would also remind the original poster that Kevin Steggles (despite his many faults) was part of the team that defeated Spurs so he wasn't all that bad. I would nominate Wayne Ebanks and Lawrie Pearson as worse full-backs than Steggles!

 

Loved Cegielski but you are right on that season! Also loved Wayne Ebanks, he was a lovely guy.

I honestly believe that Boom and Gareth Owen (when fit) would bring an improvement on our current defence.

 

I actually thought Mccombe might make it to the championship. Getting rid of Kris Taylor as an attacking left sided midfielder was also a mistake and both would be better additions to what we actually have at present

Only if he bought a ticket for a game like the rest of us! ;)

 

There's a reason he's never been succesful higher than league 2 and that's the fact he always looks like he's running through treacle.

 

Cult hero yes, but he'd be just as bad if not worse than the current lot in this league.
