Tonight's scores!!

It would have been hard for them to any better, whatever our aspirations come May-time.

Bradford, Rochdale, Walsall, Doncaster and Scunny all lost.

If you assume that it's going to be the 6th spot only that's up for debate, we've lost nothing by Preston, Bristol, Sheff United and Swindon winning.

Results perfect, all apart from Bradford City and Doncaster out of our reach. Teams below us all lost, it was better for Barnsley to beat Scunny too. 6 spot just a wild dream, but that is what football is all about.

It could be said that the results tonight have not been unfavourable to the Vale.

As regards the chances of a play off position, the results of the next two games at Notts County and home to Oldham will be a confidence booster to players (and fans) if six points can be gained.

Two, maybe three of the play off places are getting nailed on, but the fourth spot is up for grabs and any club in the top half has a chance of taking it.

I expect us to be in this division next year so I'm looking at who is going up, coming down, etc. From a travelling point of view I'd love it if we got Blackpool, Wigan and Rotherham down although a nice day out in London at Millwall would be OK. It would be great if we lost Yeovil, Crawley, Leyton and Colchester and they were replaced with Burton and Shrewsbury. Bury would be good as well and I wouldn't mind a nice weekend in Devon at Plymouth!

Quite possibly, if the CB issue had been addressed earier we would not have had that mini-slump of 1 point from 12.

Having said that, I'm sure the final table will see us where we deserve to be after 46 games.

Looking at the tripe coming down from the Championship and the mediocrity of those coming up from League 2, there is no reason why we can't figure in the promotion race next year.
