Qatar 2022 World Cup

For Us All

Recommended Posts

You cannot change the rules of the competition bidding process after the competition has been awarded without either compensating those countries who spent millions on their bids or re-running the process.

When the bidding was ongoing, we were told that the issue of the summer heat in Qatar had been dealt with in their technical bid. We were told that the technology was in place to air condition all the stadiums so that the players and supporters would not be subject to the intense heat. We were told that all of this would be in place for the tournament. If this is not possible then it is quite clear to anyone with more than one brain cell that the competition was awarded to Qatar on the basis of false and misleading information.

Not to mention the bribes.

In other words, they all LIED.

There is no way England will tell FIFA to do one....The premier league rules our national football and the money speaks, they can close the premier league down for a couple of months it wont affect the Vale.

Surely it will affect Vale? They couldn't cancel the Prem for two months and allow the Football League to continue through the World Cup?

And even if they did, we would lose money at the gate. On the other hand, for lower league clubs, going 2 months without income is not quite the same as for the PL. Perhaps it will be easier for us, as we will be in the Championship, eh Smurf? :)

If we had, for example for this season, Sheffield United at home on a Saturday that England was playing then it would affect us significantly. There'd be at least a couple of thousand short on the gate

Why not ? and if it comes to that, premier league clubs have large academies that cost more in a year than it does to run the Vale so they have no excuse than to turn out each week.

This competition was awarded by a corruptly. Qatar has used murdered dozens if not hundreds of foreign workers to build the stadium. FIFA has total disregard for the professional game and the entertainment of fans in a peak part of the season. FIFA has total disregard for the business of the clubs and professional leagues. So the response should be to boycott the World Cup by simply continuing to play league games. If the international players go to the world cup temporary arrangements should be made to bring in reserves such as from the development squads.

I'd imagine that games could be switched to a day when England/ whoever weren't playing, just like what happens now. Think the league will be suspended too. We might be in the Prem by then anyway!

Good point. One thing that has changed over the years is that more and more fans would give priority to their supported club than to a national team that are neither very interested or accomplished most times. 1966 is a long time ago, it wont ever happen again, and why should we have our league programme messed up for England?

Even if England do qualify, they won't be involved for much over 12-14 days in all probability, and only the clubs in the semi-finals and final will need the full month.

Politically a lot will happen between now and 2022 both inside football and more importantly in the world generally, I really think the chance of the whole thing going ahead is less than 50/50 at best.
