Micky Adams for Tranmere

Don't wish ill of the bloke, but this appointment so soon after he'd left Vale Park seems to pose the question; Did he leave of his own accord? Having only just secured and signed a new contract, I found it strange that he so suddenly decided to up-sticks! If he felt he had 'run out of steam' and wanted to take a break from football, I could kind of understand, but to take another job so quickly makes me wonder whether he was 'nudged' out of the Vale? Yes, I'll always be thankful for the promotion he gave us, but IMO, it was always MA who came first and I'm not sure how long his 'loyalty' will be to Tranmere? He had complained in the past of the commuting time from his home in Leicestershire to Vale Park--he's now got an even longer commute!

What does it matter if he left of his own accord or not? If he didn't leave without being sacked, he wasn't too far away for getting the push anyway.

My opinion is he should have left in the summer, it was clear things weren't right at the end of the season and that was proven with the way we started. Thanks for the memories Mickey and good luck at Tranmere, but we're better off without him.

Excellent news for my local team which is my second choice team to watch after Port Vale. I think he had reached a wall at Port Vale - a common situation in management of all kinds - and a new challenge for him could benefit him, Port Vale and Tranmere as everyone accepts it is time for change.

Just signed Guy Madjo

Classic Adams

Who could potentially be partnered with Lee Hughes upfront.

"League Two strugglers Tranmere Rovers are thought to be monitoring the situation, with Hughes well known to their manager Micky Adams from their time together at Port Vale..."

I can't remember him lol, but on wikipedia he looks pretty alright to be honest. 77 goals In 210 games, 4 in 6 for vale, and apparently he scored a hat trick for us once, and was named league 2 player of the week twice in a row when he played for us.

Scored a hat trick against Aldershot and the winner at Dagenham if I remember. Came on loan with JMW but had to go back because Peter Miller hadn't taken enough money out of the club at that time to put some back in for MA to sign him.
