Take a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Port_Vale_F.C._players before you knock Louis Dodds, Not many of our forwards have scored as many as 39 goals for us, despite some making more appearances.

It says 44 goals and therefore this season Dodds should hit the landmark 50 goals for the club......some are still waiting for Dodds to prove himself

a good player......not bad as a 10 goal a season back up attacking midfielder......any stats on Dodds assists apart from the record of Pope scoring

hats loads playing with Dodds then hardly a goal playing with Hughes.

I don't think Brown is going to be starting every game, no matter how fit he keeps himself he's still 37. I don't see how we can fit him, Jennings, O'Connor and Lines all in the same 11 - even more so in that we're going to be playing with two wide players.

How long will it take Adams to realise that Dodds is not a winger? I believe he suffers from being too willing to fill in wherever the manager chooses to put him. Did any one else notice that when Smith came on, Beckford tried to bully him before a ball had been kicked, but Smith stood his ground and, apart from an early slip covered by Duffy, who must be first choice in central defence, gave Beckford no further opportunities. Brown is clearly a class above any other midfielder we possess so we do need to find out if he can play 90 minutes, or at least 80. Lloyd needs an extended run out in the first team -surely he is our other starting winger if Moore is not ready for the start of the season. I believe it is now time to play our first eleven for a full game, so they can blend and get some stability before the season starts.

I find it quite sickening how Louis Dodds is constantly picked out to be the butt of peoples moaning. I thought that though he was played out wide again he still had a good game, hit a cracking shot and was unlucky to see his superb half volley hit a defender on it's way into the net from a Pope 'knock down'. Many on here just fail to see his subtle flicks and telling passes but notice every failed pass.

With what we currently have on our books Louis is definetly the best man to play just behind his 'Royal Highness'

It used to find the amount you consistently winged and slagged off our wingers last season 'sickening'. Dodds aint good enough IMO.

Yes, and 44 goals in 246 appearances (so one goal in just over 5 games) with many of those appearances in a supporting role to Popey and as a substitute. It would be good to see his scoring ratio per minute compared to our other strikers. A fine player and much unappreciated.

I think last night's showing by Marshall explains why I moaned about JMW. Marshall was busy not afraid to take his man on and appeared happy to track back and help out in midfield. My regret is that Tom wasn't on to profit from some of those lovely and dangerous crosses. If he had been on in the first half when Marshall was then I'm sure we would have scored a couple more goals last night.

We'll see how many goals and assists he gets this season and then compare notes with Jeno's stats.

Come on OS behave thee sen,how you can say that first bit after your constant crusade against JMW is beyond me.As for Dodds I have never been on a crusade against him,he isn't my favourite player I agree but if he does well I will say so,if he is **** I will also say so,he does some good things but imo not enough,do those who rave about him actually see how lightweight he can be? loses the ball, gets knocked off the ball etc? or do they choose to close their eyes to that.

I will forever say it yes he has 44 goals which is a decent return BUT for a player to be here 6yrs and never really be a regular in the team or have a position says a lot for me.
