I don't think Adams likes to call him a trialist going off what he said Saturday and to be fair with a player like him I doubt you can say he is on trial,so at a guess they may have been talking before and he wanted to show what he could do in the game

I don't think its of major importance to try and get another 20 goal striker(although I wouldn't say no) because IF we can get both O'Connor and Jennings then I can see us playing another system this season with 3 in the middle and 2 wingers

If I am honest I was confident we could get him but I have no idea now as to whats going on but I guess we will find out at some point this week

No rumours about? O'Connor would have been on decent wages at the Millers, a lot more than Tranmere pay, but I'd rather we went for quality rather than quantity and going by his past record he is a player who would improve the team.

I'll be very annoyed if we don't end up signing him due to finances - we've hardly got a big expensive squad and we've lost more than we've gained.

 

A free transfer from a successful club is exactly what we should be looking at and we've not exactly made any marquee signings.

 

I'm sure Smurthwaite will do the right thing and convince O'Connor to stay with us rather than having us sign some tinpot, 2nd best, lower league dreg or aging journeyman. It's not like we're asking for transfer fees - right Smurthwaite?

Good post and I agree with all that.

 

O'Connor got promoted with a very good Rotherham side and would add quality and experience as well as probably an high wage which he would deserve.

 

We need to get him signed up sharpish or I can see the lad going somewhere else.

 

We must surely have some cash to ay with to get two more quality signings in.

 

Hughes, loft, jeno, jones, shuker, chilvers, Taylor, Huggill, tomlin, Griffith have all left the club and we have signed 4 players.

 

We need some more quality players or we will be far weaker than last season and in a struggle.
