I monitored before and after the game on Saturday and less than two dozen sold.

well you could not have been there about 9 30 on saturday morning when at least 20 tickets were sold in about 15 mins.. 11 of us on the bycars have all renewed (only 1 has not)..this does not mean we support the board in any way,but the price on offer was too good to refuse.Based on people i know to have renewed i would think the figure of 2000 is about right (cant see many more being sold so still a shortfall of about 2000 tickets)

He is paid by the club to do what he is told, and that's what he's doing. You can't condemn or sack someone for doing their job. Whether or not he's any good at it, time will tell.

there is no way in a million years that we have sold 2000 season tickets.

 

I only personally know of 2 people who have renewed, one of them being an OAP, the other his 10 year old grandson. Every single other person I know with an ST has not renewed.

 

Either all of my mates, my brother and my dad are telling me porkies or the number published by the club is a lie

I asked that question deliberately - it's dead easy to suggest other people ought to have higher moral standards than you would have yourself. If you've not done it, you shouldn't expect other people to.

I'm not saying it's the truth about season tickets, just why would you expect someone to risk their job (having only just started) when so much is at stake?

You miss the point - if I was asked to do such a thing, I would use my professional expertise to advise against it. If I could not convince, esp. over such a fundamental issue, then I should not really be in the job. Using a made-up figure like this is exactly what the Board's opponents wanted....amateur error.

I don't think I'm missing the point originally made....and I agree with you that if it was a made up figure, it would make sense to persuade whoever it was not to do it, but in the end, you'd have to do what you were told.

How do we know he hasn't tried? I don't get the impression that the Board would be convinceable (if that's a word) in the present situation - and there is (whisper it) just the possibility he might be telling the truth....in which case, he wouldn't need to...it's all conjecture really...

All possibly true, but I don't buy any of it and I would not put myself as the 'face' of this as CEO either - why don't the club have someone who 'does' media?
