Hughes signs.

Hughsie is one of my all time favourite Vale players, and he's only been here 6 months.

His goals, imo, secured promotion for us as there was the time when Popey couldn't score to save his life and Hughsie managed to score 10 from 13 starts, a phenomenal record. And who will ever forget the night where he bagged 3 against Burton?

Very pleased he will be with us next year

Im not being negative.... I dont rate him that highly... did popes goals dry up before or after he came?... did we lose our way before or after hughes came along [no Im not blaming him]... if adams has plans for him thats ok by me, hes the manager, thats what he gets paid for.... hughes wont last a season in my opinion... but like anyone I could be wrong

It's true the second half of the season was not as dynamic as the first. But, where did it all start to turn back in our favour? York away, we ended a losing a streak and didn't lose a game from thereon in. And do you know who was integral to winning the 3 points at York? Lee Hughes, not only did he score, but his organisation of the team, from back to front, was key. I saw it first hand, Hughes made a difference, a huge difference with his goal scoring ability, leadership and experience. We are lucky to have him. Many clubs in L1 wouldn't think twice about signing him.

Hughes scored 10 goals in less than half a season, a chunk of games not being over 90 minutes. He was up there with our top scorers over a full season.

He was brilliant more often than not and thank god we've got a natural penalty taker now.

Brilliant signing and injury permitting he'll notch bags full. Over a full season on last seasons form he'd have bagged 20...and he was a reliable source of goals even during our dip.

I can understand people not being impressed with some of those that have re-signed but to say that about an experienced goal-machine is an odd one.

I had a look at his wiki stats - he's scored everywhere he's ever been without exception...I didn't realise is first career hat-trick was at Vale Park - t***! :D

Right after reading through a load of negative claptrap, here's a positive or two.

1) he scores for fun

2) his experience at this level is proven

3) he's helping to mould our younger players. Might only be my opinion but Ben Williamson is coming on leaps and bounds. The more direct aspects of his game I believe he's learning from Hughes.

Hughesy only trains a couple of days a week. On the days he doesn't he works with the forwards, this has to be a benefit to the team.

Think I read he wants to become a coach at vale afterwards. Williamson is sure to benefit from his experience.

Just a thought, how many did Hughesy score for county last season before joining us, add his county goals to the 10 he bagged for us and i bet a pound to a pinch of **** its over 20.

He scored 6. I don't know how may app's he made though as there was all the talk over his relationship with Curle.

Their top scorer at the end of the season only scored 9 mind - no wonder they were naffed off when he left to join us.
