When McCombe is fit.

This may sound a bit silly, but who will be the CB first choice pair when he is? Common sense would say McCombe and Purse, but Micky can make some odd decisions at times with personnel choices. I would think that McCombe and Purse should be a pretty formidable pairing, with Jones and Yates/Duffy at full back.

Common sense would say we've stopped conceding goals ,why change things?

I know LC gets some grief, but with Chilvers paired with Purse, we'd just kept 3 clean sheets. I like McCombe, but I do wonder if he offers too similar qualities to Purse.

I think Duffy's as solid a RB as I've seen for a long time and we've been crying out for a left back like Jones all season - so I wouldn't be tampering with anything there.

Purse is clearly the best defender in the club. The others should be subject to Micky Adam's normal rules of man in possession not losing keeps shirt etc. I thought Adam Yates was very out of touch on Saturday and it is essential Duffy comes back in at right back. I know that is very unfair on Yates because he is rusty from being dropped, but the next three weeks could see us decisively placed for promotion or in the mix.

McCombe is a very average player. Playing alongside someone as poor as McDonald has exposed his limitations even more, although he is by far the better of the two and at least offers some threat from our corners etc.

2 very reckless tackles have cost him his place twice this season. The defence has looked a lot better in recent weeks.

Difficult choice as we conceded lots of goals with McCombe in the side and done a lot better with Chilvers and Purse at the back HOWEVER since Chilvers has been in the side the teams we seem to have played have generally not played very offensive against us and therefore I don't think they've been under lots of pressure.

I'd like to see Jones unleashed at left wing at some point though so that has to be an option for me so I'd say for now go with McCombe and Purse once Boom is fit, but then perhaps have a look at Yates at left back, particularly at home.
