Southend 0 - Vale 0 - Post Match Comments

I think Adams will probably play Dodds on the left, leaving Williamson up front, but whoever starts should put the emphasis on attack.

It isn't a must win game and neither is it an easy game. They lost their first match in 8 yesterday and have some very good away results, so anyone who automatically believes it's an easy 3 points will be deluded.

Shukers main position is out wide rather than in the middle. I dont think he is only slower than dodds. And if he isnt up to playing wide then he isnt much use to us (its not as if he is in his late 30's and moved into the middle like some of the older wingers do). Then we can play dodds off pope which is what worked for us until we tried to shoe horn williamson into the team. If not shuker then we have taylor, lloyd, burg and possible williamson who could play wide.

We'll obviously have to shuffle the pack a bit but I think the important thing is that we get some balance into the middle of the park.

I was worried yesterday that we would be a bit lightweight in centre mid but by all accounts we got away with it.

I agree about not underestimating York, but disagree about it not being a must-win game. We are going through a bit of a blip at the moment and another poor home result could see the rot starting to set in. The chasing pack are closing in on us now and the wrong set of results in the next few weeks could see us drop out of the frame. Psychologically, it would be a real boost if we could maintain second spot going into the Xmas programme, where the real work starts. Our home form has been patchy and we must start to take advantage of VP if we have genuine aspirations of promotion starting with the York game.

Long trip home now. 182 vale there, not bad considering its a ****hole and miles away!

I'd say 182 is pretty poor for a team 2nd in the league and with an average crowd of around 5,000. Then again, don't think I've ever seen you bring a substantial following to Roots Hall. As for Southend being a *****hole, , take a look out of your window!

And just how many do you expect to bring to VP? I don't recall a massive following from Sarfend previously?

People who live in glass houses and all that.
