Just one or two if, buts & maybes!

Should Curtis go we do have a ready made replacement. Shorrock. Under Moore he was never allowed to develop his natural talent as a winger. Moore insisted on playing him as a wingback. Shorrock is never a defender, he was wasted. Bring him back, give him a role where he can develop his natural talent and wastc him blossom

This is ridiculous I’m sorry. He can’t currently get in a national league north side. Shorrock is not a Curtis replacement.

Maybe not but that may be down to Chester’s set up and just maybe Shorrock doesnt want to be there.

Shorrock has shown theability in L2 and I certainly think he is capable of doing well in l1

IF Curtis still wants to leave(if he did anyway) then he will leave imo,the only plus point for me is that he would be a player we have got a fee for that we got as a free agent.

We would have to bring in a player of his ilk though or better as a replacement

It would be a shame though because he is clearly a player the majority really like but for me he hasn't shone apart from a few games BUT i put that down to poor management of him rather than it being the player himself,we saw what he could do v Blackpool,so if played in his favoured position by Brady then we would begin to see the real Ronan Curtis imo

If we all focus on the fact Port Vale will be in league 1 next season it will  absolutely happen, use your thoughts to make sure you fully believe that will be the case and it will come true just remember being positive not negative also makes you feel happier and better. We will a 100 percent be playing league1 football next season. Port Vale forever good times are coming.

I have said for a few weeks now that I haven't totally given up on survival,I am looking at it as if we can be say 5 points away from 5th bottom after 36 games then we have a great chance of staying in League One.

So its now its down to the recruitment in this window, the players, the new management set up and us the fans to fight for it....... I truly believe we can do this

Onwards and Upwards me owd fruits

I agree with you Steve.

Playing devils advocate could it be a sign we are going to stick with WB’s?

Next few weeks going to be a big indicator.

I aren't sure if Brady has used a wing back system often or not but considering his favoured systems in the past have been 4231 and 442 and the fact that he was a winger himself,i really cant see us sticking to wing backs(he might do from time to time because he does change things to suit during games) and looking at his past squads he has often signed wingers and RB's/LB's so I guess we will see who comes in but I would assume those brought here to play as wing backs can also play RB or LB

On the face of it what you say is correct. However a year or so ago he was performing well in the first team, except for the defensive duties (Moore's obsession with using a natural winger as a wing back) so why is it he has gone so far backwards in the last 12 months. It is my opinion that if played as a pure winger we will have a much better player on our hands. We need him back here, Chester obviously isn't working for him or Vale.

If fit surely Marvin Johnson if he stays would be the ideal winger to slot into the Curtis position with Gordon or Headley at LB.

Just need a right winger then.

Well if you’re saying he’s not getting in because he doesn’t want to be there then that’s not exactly the attitude we need in a relegation battle.

I’d disagree he’s shown the ability as well. He’s had a few good moments and games but he also had a lot of shockers last year, in a lower division. I’m not writing him off as he’s still young but he’s nowhere near it currently.

I disagree that he was performing well in the first team. He had a good game away at MK. Good goal against Crewe but was crap for the rest of the game. A few other decent moments, but there were a lot of other games where he was crap and gave the ball away constantly.

I’m not sure why a player who wasn’t good enough to play a lot last season in a lower league, and can’t get in a side 3 divisions below, is now being considered the answer.

And this isn’t me writing Shorrock off. He’s still young. But currently I’ve seen nothing to suggest that he’s anywhere near the required level.

Interestingly enough Johnson did operate as a left midfielder during his time at Sheffield Wednesday so I suppose if he did stay beyond this month he could be the ideal winger to slot into that position and replace Ronan with Gordon or Headley slotting into LB.

Bring him back for assessment by the new set-up

If there was a deal done for Curtis or any other player before Christmas they'd have changed clubs on 1 January. If anyone believes an ever so slightly tongue in cheek 500k post on OVF I'm happy to sell them the Eiffel Tower for a bargain 25k today.
