2026 Winter Transfer Window

Featured Replies

Footballers (in the current era) are pushed physically to their limits, that's (one reason) why there are so many injuries.

There's a massive emphasis on stamina, speed, strength. Unfortunately, there's not much emphasis on footballing ability, footballing brain, skill, creativity. That's why most football is ****

Players like Bogie, Walker, Glover, S Mills, Foyle... wouldn't be able to match the likes of Garrity, Clarke, Debora, G Hall, Curtis... on a treadmill but they'd annihilate them in a foitball match!

Combine that with a recruitment strategy developed by idiots and run by clowns who seem to go for injury-prone players, and it's no wonder we've got the current shambolic situation at our football club!

The idiots and clowns need to be removed as soon as possible. If they're given another transfer window, we could well be bottom of League 2 by next Christmas!

Hold on though, if this is a culture thing, wont another manager just want fitter players without as much ability either?

You cant blame football as a whole changing from ability based skill to fitness on Moore. Blame him for signing injury prone players, yes, but you cant blame him for changing the culture of football!

I havent read this thread but its plainly obvious whats missing from Vales team

A player like Ian Taylor from Moor Green a player who constantly runs into the box and finishes

2 wingers who beat a man and create space for others we asking G Hall and B Waine do that and i dont personally think thats there game in fact id move G Hall centrally with G Byers and Walters

We could have done with that lad whos ended up at Bpool from Bromley

There  is players out there surely  drop on a winger or 2 Vale and make Vale great again like Guppy Mccarthy ,Ainsworth mind you he just run through you brilliant in full flight

You want sell season tickets you have to have these crowd pleasers a 0 by Vales name 5 home games in row G Hall doing his best but it leading too nothing well you can see where i am going with this

BUY SOME WINGERS.

UTV

We’ve got wingers: Headley, Lawrence -Gabriel,  Shorrock, Johnson.  Unfortunately our main formation means that they end up ploughing a furrow between defence and attack and end up as neither.  Probably also explains why we get so many injuries in these positions as it so physically demanding.

I wonder, if Moore is still in charge come January 1st, just who will hand a transfer request in ?

Can you imagine ANYBODY in their right mind giving HIM more Money to get more of HIS type of players . What we have now are HIS Chosen Players and he cannot motivate them to do anything.

Can you imagine anyone in right mind wanting to join in January?

May is fresh start. Easier then. Recruit for August.

Dregs or panics in January.

We only need a new defence, midfield and attack and we’ll be sound.

I was going to say we need to do a heck of a lot this window. Personally I would:

1. Return the three players we have in on loan - Brown, Faal, Gauci

2. Bring back the three players out on loan - Rico, Shorrock and Plant. Not only do the two youngsters cover problem positions the left and right flanks but if we are going down, we may as well give them experience. Ditto Rico who isn't getting any gametime at Walsall. These moves also give any new manager a full squad to pick from.

3. Trim the squad. Probably the trickiest thing to do but surely the likes of Marosi, Shipley have no future. It may also be right to try and move on Stockley, Heneghan and Curtis too. If anyone would take them. We also have far too many wingbacks but how we move any on when they are injured is beyond me.

4. Incoming - at the very least we need two centre-halves ASAP. A miracle worker may help as well.

Replace Moore tomorrow.  Return the loans, recall the youngsters.  Give the new incumbent all of the window to assess the squad and replace/recruit players, with the remit they’re good enough to help perform a miracle but failing that would form part of a rebuilt squad for a tilt at the League 2 title, which Moore should’ve achieved with ease last season.

Remember Cristiano Montano? Just smashed in a brace against Celtic in the opening 8 minutes.

Last brace seen at Vale was one of our many injured players hobbling off after the game with their knee in one.

I will never forget his inch perfect tackle on Mahrez in the Man City game.

The way I see it.

Send back Faal,Gaucci,Brown

Recall: Rico

Release: Johnson (Depending on Gordon injury status)

Available List: Marosi,Debrah, Ojo, Croasdale, Garrity, Shipley, Paton, Curtis, Stockley.  A lot of wasted wages in this squad with players who will struggle to get a game if we continue with the formation ( which we should) or are not good enough/ performing to the level required.

Priority Targets:
1/ Winger

2/ ST

3/ CB

4/ AM

5/ CM ( If players can be moved on and Byers and Ojo injury)

GK: Amos/Marosi

RB: Clarke/Johnn

CB: Heneghan/ New CB

CB: Humphreys/Hall

LB: Headley/Gordon

CM: Byers/ Walters

CM:Ojo/Croasdale

AM: Paton/New AM/Curtis

LW:Rico/Waine/Curtis

ST: Cole/New ST

RW: Hall/ New Player

To revisit this now Hall looks done

My priority list

1/ CB

2/ Winger

3/ CM

4/ AM

5/ ST

Now we look as good as down now.

A/ Do we limp until the end of the season, pay off DM and regroup in the summer?

OR

b/ go all chips in and get a manager and 4-5 5 players needed in the hope we can win put a run of wins together?

A/ will be very rough but the sensible business decision.

B/ nothing more than a big gamble and throwing more money at it.

This is where we need strong leadership from the owners not silence.

Going down is just as much a gamble.

100% on the CB and winger though.
