To be fair paton by the looks of things was supposed to start season but he picked up his injury

Good point forgot he was injured. I’ll give DM benefit of the doubt then

The 2nd goal is a pure beauty, wonderful weighted pass by Paton, perfect run and finish by Cole, buy quality get quality.

I was pleased from the KO after 5 secs they were messing about with the ball at the back, a recipe for disaster and so it proved. Ruari in the right place and lovely finish.

Keep the shape, don't doze off and keep pressing and we should be OK.

Yes, that's why I said I'd be comfortable at 6-0 earlier.

Remember Bolton away?? It was touch and go there for a while.

Devante had loads to do for that goal, quality finish.

He did, and it's really nice to have that sort of outlet having allowed Exeter most of the possession.

The mention of PTSD isn’t perhaps appropriate for football (results-wise) but the QPR game and the last time we played these (2-0 up at halftime then capitulating 2nd half to easily lose) does leave scars on my psyche. Another couple for us in the first 5 mins of the 2nd half might help me relax, but I wouldn’t count on it 😰

Who'd be a Vale fan?

The perfect away performance, could paton finally prove to be the player I hoped he was when we brought him in? He has been excellent so far and now we also have a proper front man in cole leading the line those half decent chances are starting to go in.

Please hold on to this lead lads!! Being greedy I'd love another goal or two but they clearly offer a threat so I'd be happy with 2-1.

2-0 is a dangerous score as Motson used to say. Need to concentrate in 2nd half

Rudge would say the same, followed by "the next goal is vital".

Let's hope there are no more.

Two lovely goals ,needlessly giving ball away at times

Rauri and Devante superb finishes

Me, I'll be a Vale fan, despite what the doctor says it does to my blood pressure.

Need to wake up. Warning sign there

Watching Devante Cole today with his obvious quality you wonder why no other team was in for him sooner. Looks like a total no brainer signing and for me looks like the best natural finisher we have had since Pope.

I'm hoping for a pair of hattricks for our front 2.  Just like Slaven and Foyle, against Barnet, back in the day.

Is that not quite an obvious off the ball stamp and red card?

How can a player be booked for a foul - but the same side get a free kick?

Come on Vale.  Need another couple of goals please.
