I’d sack off pre-season friendlies. All behind closed doors with no updates. Maybe a couple of early ones with fans for the non-league sides coffers, all 442 and 45 minutes per player.

Otherwise, it’s a deeply unhelpful exercise which benefits no one and only reinforces the poorly lads who overthink it. We’ve got 9 months of football from next week - really unsure why we have to impose importance on this training exercise today/last week.

But why? It's completely unnecessary anyway to be that soft and butthurt about a friendly result.

Some criticism is valid though, a goalie for example or terrible decision making during a match, certain things can repeat themselves or be a flaw.

Obviously people should be given time to improve but you can't ignore errors, problems or weaknesses like they don't exist.

From today it wouldn't surprise me if we end up with a new number 1 until Amos can challenge.

Haven’t read through this topic, CBA, so apologies if I repeat what others have said.  Thought it was a really good workout against quality opposition, fair result, Brum impressed with their pace and movement, unsurprising as it was virtually their first choice XI.  They looked far more up for it than we did, almost like we’d been instructed not to tackle.  Not a game full of chances by any means, we defended well apart from making mistakes for their goals and maybe should’ve done better with a couple of half chances ourselves.  It looks like Moore is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding his team selection for the season proper, highly unlikely it’ll be the XI that started today.  Paton looked like he’s trimmed down a little. Waine was busy.  Marosi kept kicking flat.  Ojo played well.  Clarke was hobbling at the end but came over to acknowledge the Hamil so nothing serious I guess.

Its not just him, there's a few of them. To them, football is all about winning so you can take the piss out of other people online. When it doesn't go your way they lash out. Its the immaturity of youth, and brutally, a lack of brains.

Yes - that was well in evidence on here last season!

Because ...??

He had no <ovf censored> out ball. The same as Jess. No out ball

<ovf censored> me learn the rest of the game

Smith couldn't pass more than 5 yards anyway. It's not his game. There's a reason he's still playing for a League Two club.

Are we still banging on about Smudge? 😄

Ojo well its a slight worry if he is our best performing player yesterday for the simple reason he wasnt good enough in our last campaign in this league .

We need every player be better than him for sure .

I dont really see what magic he offers ,does he break the lines ,does he open up teams ,does he have a good shot on him i know he scored 1 v a bottom of league 2 side in cup .

What does he offer .

Well its up to him show us what he can do, as we cannot go into games being a pass the ball well team in possession, where it doesnt hurt the opposition as lets face it his performances upto yet in a Vale shirt only warrant a low mark .

Not to say he cannot turn it round maybe he needs be fitter

Ill trust Dms judgement and if puts on the shirt ill encourage him .

We will see

Please, some one tell me (with a hint of evidence) what he’s supposed to have done?

I want him gone as he’s not a great footballer and seems close to relegation most years.

Have I missed a murder trial or something?

The downing tools when Crosby left seems to most common theme. Seems odd that if that is true that the same manager that he downed tools on appears happy to select him. We got relegated as a squad; yet certain players attract more ire than others.

Seems odd, that the manager he downed tools on, sent him out on loan for a season

The Funso situation does seem odd, I wasnt there yesterday, but a few are saying he played well, and if DM is selecting him, then im sure he has earned it.

Someone posted earlier about last season - Funso Ojo or Rakeem Harper?, for me it would have been Funso everytime, but I seem to be in the minority who didnt think he downed tools

Having said all that, I think he could well move on, but again as someone pointed out earlier, if Rhys Walters can come back from his issues, then why not Funso

I agree Hoppers...but the ones who are complaining about him coming back and playing have obviously never made mistakes in there lives or had a second chance at something because they made a ba**sup at something they did,oh well it must be great being a perfect individual,I myself have made more c*ck ups than John Holmes but that's another story lol 🤣 🤣 🤣

I’m not really sure why he’s being discussed.

I rate him more than most on here but he’s downed tools twice and wasn’t wanted by us in league 2.

May have played ok yesterday but remember it’s a friendly and we can’t judge based off a friendly. I’m pretty certain he will be gone before the end of the window along with a couple of others.

Walters is a far better player than Ojo and much younger. Ojo has had two chances already and downed tools on both occasions. With our options in the middle I don’t see where he fits in or what benefit he brings to the squad.

He will be gone.
