Probably asking for trouble playing young Jack again but if Moore  had changed the side and we performed like that he would have been criticized.

I thought this on the drive home, seems we may have suffered from NOT tinkering for a change. I can understand that maybe it's unfair to change too much after recent results but it was clear beforehand that Carlisle were definitely going to have to give it their all to get any kind of result and it was going to be a battle.

A battle for 55 minutes we just didn't seem to want to fight. We were unlucky not to equalise but it was a good save by their keeper for the penalty and they deserved the 3 points over the 90 minutes so fair play to them.

I did think, looking back that all 5 goals were poor from the defensive teams' point of view and probably all should have been dealt with better but that's 4th division football for you.

Having had nearly 24 hours to consider the results from the last few days, it's not the end of the World and promotion is still more likely than not. Mathematically it's still in our hands and that's got to be in our favour. All of the teams currently outside Automatic cannot really afford any more slip-ups which puts further pressure on them and IF we can get 3 points on Monday I think we will be all but mathematically promoted come 5.00pm.

Overall an enjoyable 2 days visiting Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle Castle and a couple of good pubs. Got to meet some friends and relatives and had we got an equaliser it would have been a pretty great couple of days but hey-ho, it's the Vale, when ever did we do anything the easy way.

2022 world cup Argentina 1 Saudi Arabia 2 , Argentina go on to win tournament, teams lose unexpected games at all levels

Not too dissimilar to the situation with Wrexham and Bristol Rovers yesterday as well. Maybe we are just competing with Swindon to win "the most entertaining team" award. 3 x 5 goal game streak.

Whelan has really progressed from his time at Oldham, when he looked a nice footballer but inconsequential. A spell in The National League looks to have really toughened him up.

The other 2 players who I thought looked good are both only on short term deals. Kadeem Harris looked what he is, a decent Championship player. Looked good in a more central role. I thought the centreforward,  Dennis, was also a handful. Not too sure what he got sent off for.

running on the pitch  when the bugger saved the penalty apparently

Wow Jacko. you really want us to suffer. ha ha
So its either two wins which is a big ask
OR
one win and two draws and we know what that means when the scores are level and we hanging on and praying we dont concede.
I'd hardly call 2 wins from our last 3 games a big ask personally

It is if we play like yesterday. A shambolic defensive display.

Must admit, when I saw the team I thought he'd made a mistake picking Jack Shorrock.  He's still learning his trade as a defender, and I thought he should have played Hart, with Jack on the bench if needed. It was obviously going to be something of a cauldron, with Carlisle needing a win, and nothing but a win, in front of a large home crowd.  In fact, he's been playing Hart in away games for just that reason, he's a better defender, and we needed stability. A draw would have been a good result in the circumstances.

Byers with credit ?? Sorry disagree there.

Waiting for him to give us a match winning performance, that matches the massive wages he is stealing from us.

If Garrity out for Monday then Byers has to step up and win us three points. If Garrity fit i would leave Byers on the bench again. He has shown nothing to say he deserves to start above Walters.

Byers has a lot of class, things like protecting the penalty spot and taking the pressure off Tolaj for example. Plus passing the loose ball out behind the goal rather than hoofing it back into their fans so that they can throw it on again to waste time.

When the game was on I thought all their forwards played a little withdrawn. There was times when we had 3 or 4 men marking fresh air in the box nobody took the decision to push onto them. We lacked adaptability to their formation.
How long has Shorrock been taking corners and free kicks ?
Anyway typical Vale we only do it the hard way. UTV

For the penalty, I thought Tolaj struck it better than in the Walsall game, just that the keeper guessed right.

There is one spot the keeper cannot reach, the top corner, all professionals should be able to put it there with practice. If I can do it then why can't they? With so many important games decided by penalties it would pay to do anything to get an edge.

For example, if I was the manager, I would say right lads, I want the penalties in the top corner, anyone who is confident then step forward and we will practice this everyday. It takes the pressure off the players as it is the managers instruction.

.....and if any player attempts a panenka that GPS device should contain a bit of C4 and detonate there and then so they can never do it again.

If you are an ironic parodist, you are brilliant.

But I suspect you are simply a little bit silly.

You can make your own mind up about what I am based on the following facts.

I was at Carlisle.

We went 3-0 down.

I <ovf censored> off.

I think we need a new manager of our football team.

Plus the facts you choose to omit -

We pulled back to 3-2 and had a penalty in the 91st minute to make it 3-3.

Even after the team's poor performance and defeat at Carlisle, our manager has us top of the division and long odds-on favourites for promotion.

So your expressed views about our manager really are a little bit silly.
