Which one is Waine?

Not a lot of pace I'm afraid

I don’t think you realise how bad it got under Darrell before he left.

More crap 9th in league one! How’s that bad!!! All went pear shaped after Conor left.

If he was up to the level why didn't a L1 team near his house take a chance on him?

I take your point that he wasn't "dropped" but come on, he was miles off it.

Absolute nonsense. He had a couple of iffy games at the start of the season and had adapted well by October (hence our more than solid record with him as an important mainstay). He was sold because Flitcroft had very little clue about how to direct anything.

I’m telling you, behind the scenes it got very very ugly. Darrell wasn’t managing us for weeks up until he left.. not properly. He left Carol with no choice.

If you have 4 - 5 strikers who have a history of scoring goals then on paper it looks great however ten games in when 3 of them arent getting game time they will not be happy as they wont want to be sitting on the bench. Therefore creating an unhappy camp. Signing players like waine hes coming in to try and prove himself but he will know he has to take his chances he wont be knocking on the door first game of season asking moore why he isnt starting upfront infront of tolaj. Its up to him to take the shirt off someone id much prefer have that than someone sulking on the bench looking for a move because they havent got game time.

Agree. And he’s got a World Cup squad to get into. He should be fired up

As I’ve posted before on here, it’s all well and good to praise players when we sign, but mention anything not 100% positive and it’s a different story.

Keeper is decent, I’ve seen him a few times he’s a good keeper. My question on him signing is if he’s any better than Amos. For me it would have made sense to either go out and get a keeper who is better or a younger keeper as back up.

Waine, of course I will wait and see, the same as Humphrey’s and Gabriel etc. For every Chris Wood there is a thousand Ryan Lofts. Look, he may be great and I certainly hope he is, but he struggled with Mansfield last season.

From reports the keeper seems good but I was hoping we'd sign a striker with a track record of scoring goals at least in Lge 2. The 'Let's wait and see' argument is all well and good but what if it doesn't work out and Tolaj or Stockley get a long term injury heaven forbid and the transfer window is closed.

I wish Ben Waine all the best and hope he's a success at PVFC, exactly the same as any other Vale signing.

Still a few moves to be made yet.

Thought you were going down The Batman route for a while!  Just need A Grayson and an Alfred now 😂

We've certainly had plenty of Jokers over the years!

(and some Two-Face owners!)

If I were to sum up our signings so far, I’d characterise them as well-considered and shrewd.

Not all of them will pay off, no one, not even Sir John, came close to a 100% success rate.

But every last one of our signings so far for the coming season has real potential for League 1 and above, if they continue to develop their capabilities.

And I don’t believe we are yet done, I think there’s a marquee signing still in the offing.

Talking with authority about something you know nothing about.

Lee darnbrough has been in since the end of the season so it's not the same team.

As Head of Recruitment, the recruitment team and club philosophy have been here all season

Sadly there can't be may people who watched that save still with us. The away end was pretty full but I'm guessing maybe 900 Vale fans. I think I was about 14 and we got into a scuffle with some home fans leaving the ground. I've never seen a save on a par live and I'd rank it above the Banks save against Pele. We wouldn't have gone up that season without him. I think we sneaked a 1 0 win with a Geoff Hunter goal and the shot was from Tommy Gore?
I remember that save very well, (he was excellent the whole game) and for me, Big Nev is the best keeper we've had at Vale in my lifetime [emoji1305][emoji1303]

So to add to Stockley/Tolaj/Curtis/Paton the squad now boasts some real pace up top with Rico and Waino.....that is to say Rico to run at the defence and Waino to run in behind and the boss has said all along the they were after a forward with real pace to stretch teams.

The goalkeeper signing seems another astute solid bit of business on a free for what must be one amongst of the top handfull of keepers in the division.

Jason Lowe signs for Tranmere

Thought you were hallucinating but it's true. Prior to this signing I thought Crosby was building a decent side. It's not Lowe's fault but he can barely run now. Maybe useful for 5 minutes at the end of a game to shore up the midfield protecting a lead. Maybe ok as a backup to Smith. Seems a decent enough fellow.

I'm pretty certain the shot was from Tommy Gore how Southall saved that I'll never know, I remember the Bury fans going mad because he had been on loan with them earlier on , it was a bit lairy on the car park after if my memory serves me well.

Best keeper Vale had by a mile. Not long after he left most experts were ranking him the best in the world. Probably already at that level when he was at Vale. As you say he saved 2 or 3 certain goals in addition to the worldy in that match. By rights we should have lost heavily. My brother lives close to Bury and I know some of there fans remember it. A bit sad he carried on playing too long.
