I'm a big fan of Marosi's Slovak-Lancashire accent.

Surely you dont think we have ditched any targets we had for his? I think he will be used more in January unless I am misreading what you mean.

He himself says the club were interested before the end of the season and we had someone come on here and give us his name a few weeks back saying we had been in talks with him since May

Maybe we should have ditched the targets if it means bringing in a player who has barely scored a goal in a competitive league but perhaps you're right. I'm just getting bad vibes from our business the more it manifests itself...

Like I said previously, if Marosi is over his injury and back to the player he was at shrews, if our best 11 from last year make a successful step up and dont get too injured, if Gabriel and Gordon aren't the players that previous fans say and can make an impact for us, then we should be fine.

I'm just beginning to get very twitchy about how our squad is taking shape at present, especially given our injury record. I think we are trying to build a bench at the minute (Humphreys, Marosi and maybe Gabriel aside).

I certainly wont be arguing with you mate,as i have said many a time it's all about opinions on here for me,if we all agreed it would be boring and i do value a lot of your posts but i just dont see why a few are knocking the lad before even seeing him play thats just madness to me.

I am quite happy with our business so far,of course i would of liked a couple of big proven names like we all would but we are a little fish right now but hopefully we will have a decent enough season with stability in League one for now

Walka003, apologies if you have already covered this, but how would you rate our squad now compared to our last time in league 1 - im not being p1ssy, genuinely would like to know 😁👍

Sadly there can't be may people who watched that save still with us. The away end was pretty full but I'm guessing maybe 900 Vale fans. I think I was about 14 and we got into a scuffle with some home fans leaving the ground. I've never seen a save on a par live and I'd rank it above the Banks save against Pele. We wouldn't have gone up that season without him. I think we sneaked a 1 0 win with a Geoff Hunter goal and the shot was from Tommy Gore?

You be a better memory than me all I can remember was the same, a packed away end and scuffling on the road after the game.

The Welsh binman was the best keeper I've seen in a Vale shirt. Didn't play a lot of games. Within a year a lot of people were acclaiming him the best keeper in Europe.  He made a save against Bury away that would have been on any video reel as one of the greatest ever - if there had been video! Arguably Jim Arnold was the second best at Vale and within a few months Southall had taken his position at Everton.

I remember that save - he seemed horizontal 5 feet off the ground .. it was around bonfire night early 80s

Its an interesting one, Mansfield fans reckon he was miles of L1 level but the Argyle ones are a bit more positive in that he has something there so will have to see.

Think we need a target man so concerned we’ve signed another striker similar to Paton who can do the job and has more goals in terms of his form in recent years. Hopefully still get that target man and another centre half or I’m a bit concerned still.

Looks like we will have a Valiant at the World Cup Finals which will be nice.

I only glanced at the headlines: saw the name Waine, New Zealand, signs for Vale... and for a second thought we'd signed that left back after a year long trial.

Already 4 strikers on the books now and 5 CBs already with players who could cover there in a pinch.

I think outgoings would be needed to bring in any more that isn’t a loan.

Hart and Paton the obvious ones. Tolaj and Shorrock might be poached.

The squads better, 100%. I made a post that I can't find now says such. That being said you've still got to hope that these lads can step up if we are just going to sign squad players all summer.

It can be spun either way really, weve just been promoted and most fans will think the lads we've got at the min are more than enough to stay up.

However on the flip of the coin, Headley, Shipley, Gordon and Gabriel weren't particularly loved by their previous fans at L1 level. Clark has barely been available for 10 games since joining us. Hall had to be sold last time he was that bad in L1. Tolaj, Debs, Walters, Shorrock, John have never really played at the level.

I don't think it will be anywhere near as bad as that, a lot of these players will probably be absolutely fine, I dunno maybe it's just years of being disappointed as a vale fan but I'm nervous about what we're doing so far.
