Port Vale v Barrow match thread - 25 March

Featured Replies

Poor team selection, poor performance, DM tools late with subs.

How on earth are we still playing 3 CB’s again chasing the game?

Another home game we allow a lowly team to pass the ball around for the opening 10 minutes and see them gain confidence. What happened to wanting to play on the front foot?

Barrow rode the luck to win and the GK made a couple of good saves but we only went after them in the final 20 minutes.

DM’s tactics will cost us promotion

What a dreadful performance. We didn't deserve anything out of that. Slow, plodding build up, no movement in midfield, especially in the first half. Not sure we have the heart for it, no passion. Been coming as we didn't play well on Saturday either. The Tuesday hoodoo strikes again. Moore has not got a clue

As bad a first half as you’ll see. I’ve criticised DM plenty but on another day performance aside we win that 3-1 .The flack would have flown after the Morecambe game but for a late goal.          Saturday is the marker, let’s see how we react to this result.

Highly frustrating and sort of no surprise really. First half dogs second half like a different team. Why for the love of god cant we just get at it from the first minute instead of passive defensive dross.

Big D is an endless enigma bless him. A Valiants Nemisis.

Oh well on to you no who on satdee where we need a result, no matter what.

When the manager sets us up to try and not concede when we've got a chance to get in the top 3 is bloody criminal in my opinion  Darren's not going to change his ultra cautious tactics no matter what

The table suggests otherwise

No….the table suggests play offs.

Far too slow. It was like listening to a pre season friendly on the radio. A bit of impetuous towards the end predictably but all far too late. Barrow were crap but we were happy to play at that level. I actually think Moore is a deeply arrogant man who believes he can do no wrong because anyone with a capacity for self reflection would look at how he has set us up against toothless sides at home and know that you need, as a minimum to take it to them from the start and get that goal.

We never do that and it is so frustrating. I don’t believe that is down to the players, it is a Moore tactical choice for this ponderous tempo.

I’ve said before that Vale play well at times in spite of Moore , not because of him and his stupid tactics. We had no luck in the 2nd half , but that first half was atrocious from Vale. Why change a winning team?  The man is clueless. MOORE OUT!  Bring on the flak , I don’t care a jot. We’re in a false position , in my opinion .

I totally agree with your comments.

Fans of other clubs can see we are just average and not many rate Moore.

This squad is overrated and the less said about Moore, the better.

Don’t want to see Harper again. Walters put him to shame. All the subs made a positive impact. Side that started second half should be the team for Crewe, except I’d drop Debrah, move sang over and play Clarke at wing back.

You’re right. Walters laps him three times over in terms of what each bring to the side. With Harper he’s been here long enough now and doesn’t look anywhere near to being fit. I’m done with Harper now, can’t be carrying him at this point.

I’d be doing the same as you with the wingbacks too. Defo think Rico should get the chance to start. Yes he scored the winner but that has been two honking performances from Ronan, unsurprisingly when we’ve gone back to this 3-4-3.

Second half we were good and with a bit of luck would have got something. I’d go 4-4-2 from here on in. At least give it a red hot go. We. Curtis does not start next time out for me. 2 stinkers this week

Well the games in hand really brought dividends thanks to Moores squad rotation, if we do manage to get promoted it will be despite a bang average manager.

Their keeper is out of contract at end of season. Not sure if he plays like Gordon Banks every week but we would do worse than get him in.
