Surprised we’ve scored that many tbf, although we had 4 at Newport & 3 vs Dons I suppose which helped. But your 2nd point is exactly why I’m frustrated. We had 9 days to prep for Cheltenham. The best we came up with was to contain them, go a goal down, then finally attack in the last 15 mins. I repeat, that’s Tom Pett’s Cheltenham. Pretty poor really in my opinion. Then to set up 5-5-0 today is, quite frankly, unforgivable. Hand the initiative to them, unsurprisingly we can’t / don’t deal with a corner (and it wasn’t as if there weren’t enough warning signs in the first half) and we then make a raft of subs which left us a disorganised mess. I cannot recall a single chance created - the Rico chance was offside apparently and the clearance off the line just the result of scrambles a ricocheting. Top of the league and not creating a chance in two successive home games. Ummm. That’s not a promotion team in my eyes. And we saw from last year that if you do start playing poorly then sooner or later the results will follow.

Ultimately I think we will get promoted. I do think the manager is caging the players and not unleashing them.
Today was criminal.

I’m just at an astounded loss as to how a manager of Darren Moores experience can start todays game without a striker on the pitch.
And also. One other point. The subs…… Absolutely pointless them getting “warmed up” because when they come back to come on it takes another 6 or 7 minutes for them to get changed and go through tactics and then wait for Moore to decide at what period of play they come on!!

Darren Moore is not helping himself right now with the fans and that’s after winning back to back manager of the month awards!!

Its all a bit mad but I go on what I see and that today was wrong on so many levels

Someone once said that Port Vale fans demand a lot for their 300 quid, and I'm beginning to agree.

The prevalent idea on here is that if the players have a bad game (even if they're coming off the back of a historically long spell at the top of the league, and have lost twice in 14 games), then they don't deserve any noise made for them.

These team are scrappers. We've seen it twice in the past two games. Proper battle. Today they're off it and we sulk in silence.

Get behind them! They're good lads! PVFC is for life, not for 10 game unbeaten streaks.

It's not one game though, is it? We've been an absolute slog to watch at the last 7 attempts. It took a thunderbastard not to fall to a pathetic defeat midweek and a 2 yard scramble to beat joint bottom Morecambe.

Beyond me how Hackford beat BBB to the bench again.

Debrah-Ripley-Debrah-Ripley-hoof ball is <ovf censored> excruciating to watch. No surprise the goal indirectly came from that dithering about in the channels.

50mph tailwinds and we're squaring it at the back, and on the extremely rare occasion we did get forward we were mostly looking to push it out wide for an ineffectual cross rather than take a shot on and see what the wind did with it. Incredible stuff.

Not wanting the ball and playing poorly is different to not putting effort in.

Players worked hard but were busy fools. The manager, coaches and players lacked football  intelligence in those conditions shown today. It’s the most frustrated I’ve been watching us play for a while. We were clueless.

Thoughts on today and the recent past....

Looked at recent team sheets/ substitutions and performances and to be honest they further enhance the 'doubs't I had following on from the debacle of last season which did not improve at all following DM's arrival. League two is relatively poor, we must have the highest budget by some distance and a budget competetive in the top half of league one. When I think of the last few seasons and the lack of strikers or indeed 'fit' ones, I am astonished to look at todays game being started witn none of the 'expensively' assembled forwards and indeed playing x2 'holding' midfielders. Cheltenham too was far too ordinary as have been at least x4 of the last 6 games. This squad is competetive and any manager worth his salt would love to have these players at his disposal. Personally, I'm not sure we are set up to maximise the quality we have, there does appear to be a play "not to lose first" mentality rather than letting the opposition worry about our players. It is not good enough and this decline needs attention now. We should be better than we are showing of late. As Micky used to say "All fur coat no knickers". More than happy to be proved wrong. UTV

I'm going have to contact vale to tell them stop sellinge tickets and block my season ticket. I've had to ring Samaritans tonight as basically I've had enough with life in general I fell out with somebody on here the other week and I fell out with jean Jackson on here earlier in the year for basically nothing. I've had abuse off vale fans and Walsall fans online today and that's sent me over the edge so I'm not going go vale anymore as I can't take losing especially if other things like family problems people abusing me online are going on aswell. Some of the abuse I've had is probably justified but Alex Stevenson I can't stand the guy. He's basically made me not want go anymore.

When I saw the team I thought that Curtis as a false 9, Richards and Chizzy were there to take advantage of the fact that Walsall aren't particularly quick and they do give goals away and we were going to "Get at Them"  The weather played a big part, some of the clearances bordered on farcical, so on that score at half time I thought we'll put them under pressure and go on and win.

The 2nd half, once again at home, we just shrink into ourselves and that's not what a top 3 side should be doing, we need to be doing the dictating, ball retention is awful and has been for the last few games, and please don't get me started on Ripley's distribution.

I understand that is how DM likes to play but I would love a convincing home win, shove 3 or 4 past someone, come away thinking that's why we are up at the top, but then DM has got us up at the top so what do I know ?

I’m not so sure about getting promoted, but if we are in contention around Easter , it definitely will not be easy . Wimbledon, Grimsby , and Franchise are starting to pick up points now , and there is always a run from a mid table side . We’ve seen it so many times before. Vale are a good side on paper only at the moment . Having Garrity and Byers fully fit will make a huge difference. It seems to me that Moore is so afraid of losing that he’s happy not to go over the halfway line, and take a chance. That has to change somewhat , as all the other sides in the league have us figured out. It’s very predictable. Bromley will be a tough game , and I’d take a draw right now. The Christmas run of games will tell a lot. Im not trying to be negative , as 2nd in the table is a good position to be in with almost half the season gone.  Following the Vale is never dull , and I wouldn’t have it any other way. UTV

This passing it too one another and back to Ripley to boot mostly too opposition is what's really annoyed me today.

If going play like that I'd suggest with play 4 midfielders at back as you have to move the ball quickly all afternoon we weren't moving it quickly enough ,how can you get at opposition if passing it slowly at back and leaving all the other players tightly marked .

What does BBB have do start he goes at players goes past them that creates space for others

Bizarre management

Didn’t see the game as on vacay and no signal but no strikers and why so many changes. Not sensible.

Indeed incredible stuff, just not in a good way. In a post I made last night I said I didn’t fancy us today and made a comparison of the Arsenal-Man Utd game last week, which was derided by the usual people. But guess what - that’s exactly how it played out. A nothing 1st half basically taking not chances, undone by a set piece then wholesale changes which more often than not don’t work. I’m not saying this to shout aren’t I clever- more to point just how utterly predictable we are. No target man so we won’t go long; so pressure the CB’s who are all pretty limited on the ball and Ripley who vastly overrates his own kicking ability (personally I’d like to see Amos given a go now). Plus other than Hart and Cover, we never tried to play in triangles, again pretty basic to me.

I certainly didn’t give you abuse Andy I just stated that you never have anything positive to say that was all. And you threaten to go & take your life. You clearly have some issues going on & I hope you get the help you need. As for that ginger Alex, under no circumstances would he ever stop me wanting to go & watch my beloved Vale. Keep your chin up lad & maybe take a break from all this online stuff if it’s getting you down. Stay strong 💪🏻

Did you say a while back Darren Moore doesn’t know what he’s doing? (Barrow/ Doncaster) What’s changed your mind now, Joe? These last 4/5 games have been a dreadful watch for a top side. Not a chance we stay up there if this continues in his rotation style every single game.

Yes, the 9 wins in 12 and being top for weeks changed my mind.

But we're 2nd! We should be chanting when the team goes 1-0 down/has a man sent off, and no sit mute for 45 minutes.

I agree we've been poor. I agree something needs to change. I don't see how there is any logical connection to 'the fans are therefore quiet'. Sometimes we need to lift the team, and not wait for the team to do the lifting for us - which they've done very well by being top of the table for weeks.

The players have lifted us with their wins for weeks upon weeks, and the first slump we see we decide we can't try and lift them back. The atmosphere 2nd half was shocking today and, whilst the players were the root cause, we could have at least tried to rally them.

It’s not just Vale though, a lot of lower league clubs are silent unless there team is on the front foot or winning. Yes there’s an argument we could be more vocal to rally the lads on but at the same time if they were getting us off our seats they’d hear us in full voice. A bit of both is needed for me. Not suprised at home either, very rarely are we loud at Vale Park not like it used to be years ago. As for our away support we tend to be more than consistent whether we’re winning, drawing or losing.
