Port Vale v Walsall match thread - Dec 7th

Someone once said that Port Vale fans demand a lot for their 300 quid, and I'm beginning to agree.

The prevalent idea on here is that if the players have a bad game (even if they're coming off the back of a historically long spell at the top of the league, and have lost twice in 14 games), then they don't deserve any noise made for them.

These team are scrappers. We've seen it twice in the past two games. Proper battle. Today they're off it and we sulk in silence.

Get behind them! They're good lads! PVFC is for life, not for 10 game unbeaten streaks.

You can't ignore recent performances though. We've looked more like a bottom half side lately. Out attack looks great on paper but Moore has been getting so little out of it. Haven't we scored about 5 goals in 7 games now? Something needs to change and asap. I'd suggest choosing who you think your best front three or front two are and sticking with them every week first of all. None of them are currently being allowed to find any sort of flow or form.

I'm not privy to figures like some on here .

Potentially spent 350 grand upwards on Tolaj and Paton, both goal machines. Stockley obviously on mega bucks.

But Michael Cheek has more goals than the 3 combined.

Obviously Tolaj was jettisoned again, Paton is a worker, but zero goal threat, Stockley ditto, despite having a high pedigree.

It's an odd one, we're still 2nd , but this is deeply concerning to me.

Walsall were actually crap yet potentially have a lovely cushion now.

It's fine mate, your support for players who have been top for weeks is conditional on whether you reckon they've fought hard enough, after battling for weeks to have us top of the table which you've been loving.

I tried to get behind them today as there was zero point sitting in silence. They deserve our backing through their efforts to this points. They clearly can be arsed and we'll get bad games in a 50 game season.

I supported them mate like 7 other thousand fans in that weather.
I don’t mind bad games, but that’s what 5/6 in a row / in recent months. Can’t just say don’t worry lads you beat Newport away earlier in the season so don’t worry about trying today. You always mention this division is one of close margins, we cannot afford to keep turning up and not putting effort it.

Edit. It’s quite clear they didn’t battle or fight at all today. If you think otherwise I’d get your eyes tested.

Yeah I went & I have no complaints with your posts or fans reaction, I agree we were poor today & have been for weeks. Just saying your very busy posting when we lose or play crap but disappear when things are rosey. Strange 😅

Count on one hand our convincing performances.

Let's have a couple of "easy " 3-0 home wins to calm the nerves.

Sadly we appear inhibited.

Like DM, but this squad should be expressing themselves not crapping themselves at a team with two lard 19 year olds in their line up.

Like today, we were crap but if Ripley pushes it up properly and Stockley puts it a yard to the right, we win 1-0 and we're all chuffed as punch. We were really, really bad and losing by the tighest of margins.

Byers is back. Garrity isn't far away. Carol will boost us with a few signings. As long as we're in that top 3 in May, Walsall/Crewe/whoever are welcome to the 4th tier title which will be forgotten about by July when the fixtures come out.

In a 46 game season we're not going to win around 20 of them based on recent history (if we go up). We're in a great overall position, but with some work for Moore to do.

And more signings will mean Darren Moore still won’t know his starting line Up and keep masking wholesale changes week in week out. We’ve need creativity. We’re not missing 5/6 chances every game we simply aren’t making any. We’re a top ten side currently. And it’s down to Darren more for those changes every single game. We look so disjointed as a team.

I'll make noise for this group of players every game this season, regardless of performance.

Longest we've been top since the 50s. They will fight for us and we've got loads of evidence for it. Today we got sucker-punched from a weird goal just after half-time and struggled, but I don't believe they weren't trying.

Agree with all that.

We can still chant though. Not hard, is it?

If you check my posts , I do praise the team and manager when it's warranted but I'm not going to sit in silence when I've paid good money to watch that performance 2day 🖐️

Will do. If we're out of the playoffs by that time I'll donate £10 to a charity of your choice.
