I hope you are right but I now have real doubts - we'll know for sure soon enough. ..

Still 4 points clear of 4th. Great position. We'll get it right.

Well there is some absolute c””p spouted on here.

yes a bit an off day particularly second half where the weather got even worse.

Day off? We’ve been <ovf censored> since Harrogate. Walsall improved 2nd half with the weather (and wind against them) and we somehow got worse. Not 1 player above a 5/10 and the manager has shown his tactical ability. Saw a post earlier about Paton requesting a transfer and I agree. If I was him or Tolaj I’d be wanting out.

Losing and we end the end game playing 1 up top with two strikers in attacking mid. Tactically utterly clueless.

We’ve certainly hit a sticky patch & the manager is making some bizarre decisions that are a concern. But we still sit 2nd in the league & have only lost 2 in the last 15 games. I said at the beginning of the season I’ll be happy if we’re in & around the playoffs at Xmas & we can push on from there. Over the moon where we are but need to find some consistency in performance & selection. Far too much chopping & changing! 5-6 players each game isn’t going to work.

Overall Vale fans need to be realistic here.

After last season, if you said at the beginning of this season we would be 2nd in the League approaching Xmas, most would have bitten your hand off.

We have a large squad with money spent on it and yes we were one of the favourites at the start. That though was mostly because we signed quality in Byers. Trouble is he missed the whole of pre-season and only played about 180 minutes in total. My worry is he might only be fit enough to last another 180 minutes over the rest of season.

Then we lose our most influential midfielder and captain for a long period. Two class midfielders out of any side would cause big issues never mind a promotion chasing one.

Yes there are squad concerns and the question is will the owner spend money to booster it for the second part of the season.

As for Walsall, there concern will be January when Stoke will almost certainly recall Lowe and they are left a giant whole in their midfield.

Why would it leave a hole (sp) in our midfield? He's a striker, and a bloody good one. Yes, he'd be a loss but we've got options. You're not the only team with some depth.

You've no idea. We were nowhere near our best today. We've been putting 3 and 4 past teams, and creating chances for fun. The conditions ruined the game.

Be honest couldn't care less about your team .

Well done on going top go and enjoy your night

Imagine going on a oppositions forum when you have just won.

Go and celebrate and enjoy till we meet again .

Hopefully by then Moore has adopted a more forward,go at the opposition.

IF not we will tumble down league as the better players will not want play negative football as it makes them look naff .

Losing that cup game has bought about our poor sequence of performances.

Levels need to be improved ten fold

Byers will see to that .

I’m with you. No chance we’ll be top 3 with him in charge. We spend more time worrying about and trying to nullify other teams strengths to the detriment of our own style of play, hence why there actually doesn’t appear to be one. Imagine spending 9 days worrying about how best to nullify mid-table Cheltenham. It would be funny if it wasn’t so freakin barmy given the attacking players we’ve got. We should be going and taking the game to them - we were top of the league (at that point) for Godsake, start acting like it!

Ultimately our poor form has caught up with us today. We've been awful since the Barnsley defeat. We didn't turn up against Gillingham and then were below average in the Morecambe game but won because they were even worse, drew with a Wrexham side who couldn't care less, drew with a Crewe team who were better on the day and drew at Cheltenham after being second best.

I listened to Moore's post match interview on Radio Stoke where he said Stockley had "some medical procedures done" which is why he didn't start, but that doesn't explain Paton not getting a game.

There is a massive coincidence between our drop off in form and Garrity's injury. He is the only real leader we have when it comes to getting your hands dirty and getting stuck in. The others are senior players but not captains.

Harper offers nothing that we didn't already have and now we have a midfield with no pace or ability to drive us forward.

Debrah and Croasdale were the only ones even lightly above average today, the rest were gross and if you look at Ripley's save percentages compared to shots faced you'll see how bad a goalkeeper he is.

Despite all that I think Moore will get us promoted, but I think there's far more turgid games like this ahead than electrifying ones.

I think he'll give Byers an hour on Tuesday then start him at Bromley.

But there's far too many out there at the moment who need a good hard kick up the arse to get them back to what they were at the start of the season.

I think on Tuesday he'll go:

Amos

John Heneghan Hall Shorrock

Byers Harper

Benicio Tolaj Curtis

Paton

Then next Saturday I'd go with this:

Amos

John, Debrah, Hall, Hart

Byers, Croasdale

Richards, Tolaj, Curtis

Paton

He won’t drop Ripley

5 mins to go

Fans steaming out

Yes it’s cold but once u have made the effort <ovf censored> me

Crewe probably give the owners hope today they must of thiught why

For me it’s just a case of the manager waking up and trying to win football matches. Starting at home without a striker is a disgrace. I knew we would lose as soon as that 11 was announced and nearly stayed in the pub.

To me, Moore is always looking at how an opposition players and how to counter them instead of having our own identity and using our quality players to impose ourselves on them. They were bang average today (although didn’t need to be any better) and like against Cheltenham, Crewe, Gillingham, morcambe etc we let them play and we never imposed ourselves. We only score belters or set pieces. I know I’ll get abuse as I did at half time for saying he got it wrong and it was <ovf censored> (look who was right) but I think we will really start to struggle.

I don’t see where goals will come from, which is ludicrous with the players have. But when the manager won’t pick them consistently I don’t see how we will ever get good patterns of play or when he does pick them it’s out of position.

Dont know, but feeling very negative about the side after today. A side set up completely wrong by a negative coach and one that to me didn’t look remotely interested.

Probably because it was that bad. Fans made the effort and players didn’t. They post things on social media like get behind the lads your our 12th man etc. well they need to perform and the manager needs to pick a side we can get behind.

Agree about the conditions. Two really poor sides on show today. Only separated by a scrambled chance you scored and a scrambled chance for us that was cleared off the line. That was about it. Be an interesting second half of the season.

Feeling pretty much the same

All of the Vale supporters have had to endure today's poor performance from both the players and the management team.

It was a really disappointing Vale showing, especially second half.

But the positive majority of the Vale supporters also have to endure the inevitable outpourings from the moanaholic minority who appear to think that spewing bile somehow contributes to making the club better.

It doesn't, it's just crass self-indulgence and a pain to everyone else.

I remain very confident that Vale will win promotion this season.

And the key to that promotion will be the positive majority of Vale supporters who get behind the team even more strongly when, like today, things get difficult.
