Depressing game to watch , between the wind and Vale huffing and puffing . Bad  lineup to start with ,  and the loss is on Moore. Let’s see how he reacts to it.

Cheltenham taken the lead at Donny.

The gaffer has set us up for a draw there to contain them and we are the home side that defeat is on the manager for me 🤨

You keep telling yourself that, sweet cheeks. x x x

You improved 2nd half but let’s face it you’ve beaten a side who didn’t turn up for about the 6th game in a row. For me you deserved to win but it was more of how bad we were rather than anything you did. I thought it was a horrible advert for football and could have been 20th against 21st.

Absolutely disgusting  performance that. It was like watching re-runs of the Bolton, Derby, Boro etc home games last year. Moore can do one for me, seen enough of his ‘tactical masterclasses’ to last me a lifetime.

You can have prime Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane, Shearer et al if you team but if you’ve got a keeper than has the most touches out of anyone and plays sideways, sideways, backwards, forwards between the 3 CB’s followed by the inevitable hoof when they get closed down they won’t win many matches.

Our two biggest games of the season - top of the table games and local-ish rivals AT HOME - and I don’t recall either opposition keeper making a save.

Atmosphere was as flat as a witches t!t in the home end again. Hardly surprising though really is it, when you’re not actually attacking.

And what is it that makes him think we can defend and keep clean sheets?? We’re as sh!t off set pieces as we’ve always been, so that’ll be consecutive games we’ve conceded off corners now.

I wish I could say this was unexpected, but it really isn’t. Played the same way against Gills, lose; struggled against a game but limited Morecombe and win it late off a corner; rubbish against Crewe & lucky to get a point; ditto Cheltenham; then today. Numerous other examples - Donny, Accie for example.

I could go on but I really cannot be bothered, which seems quite apt. People go on about the spirit given lots of late goals, but to surrender top-spot (and I know it counts for nothing at this point) in such a limp way speaks volumes for me.

Garbage.

Wished it had have been called off.

Darren Moore. Hang your head in shame tonight.
To not start a recognised striker at home against anyone is a disgrace. To do it in a top of the table clash is absolutely criminal.

I posted when the team news came in

He's set us up to grind a result out

# Darren Moore give your head a wobble

Buck you're ideas up # not good enough

I’ve heard Moore has applied for the England job and is practicing his formation ready to take over.

He is so negative, yes we are hard to beat but we have arguably the best squad on the division, we should be playing attackive football trying to beat weaker teams.

Moore plays to win 1-0 unfortunately we have started to concede

Most of our 1-0 wins could of been draws so easily

The Doncaster fans were right

Prove me wrong big dazzler

Poor day.

The game didn't have a lot of chances - one good chance each, which they took and we had cleared off the line. However, this pertains to our real issue with chance creation in the last 6. Since Wimbledon, we've only scored 3 league goals - two screamers and a set-piece. We don't look like creating anything at all.

This is a result of the Darren Moore approach, which benefitted us massively but is now costing us. Low-margin stuff works if you take the lead, manage your set-pieces, and set out games. We're not doing any of the above at the minute, and have conceded two set piece goals (after the first header) in a week. It's giving away points and needs to be sorted. Our ability to make simple passes is genuinely worrying. Too many players aren't at it at present.

The lineup was weird. Harper is a vacuum and I'm unsure as to what the plan was. Moore's chopping and changing is lauded when we have fresh legs to bring on in the last 20, but looks a bit stupid today when our best players in every area of the pitch were probably on the bench, with no sign of Tolaj and Benicio. As poor as Tolaj has been I'm not quite sure why he's basically been ostracised when he was invovled in so much early on.

We have to zoom out a bit though. The streaky nature of our results leaves us feeling a bit flat today, but if we were 2nd now but hadn't gone on a silly winning run and then a poor winless run, we'd probably be quite happy. There will be peaks and troughs, and we can't laud the peaks if we can't handle the troughs. We've had our turn at the top and now Walsall will have a crack. I'm not sure why anyone massively cares about the 4th tier title, as I didn't in 12/13 or 21/22. I won't give a stuff if there's a tinpot trophy to hoist come May - I'll just care if we're in League 1 or not.

It's fair that Walsall are top now as they're the best team. They nicked a goal and managed the game brilliantly - pressed us with bravery and never looked ruffled. Saddler's done a cracking job building on last season and has assembled a young team without a big budget that look very comfortable without being outstanding. Despite my view that they're the best team in the league, it's a weak League 2 this year and the top 3 from last year would probably waltz it again.

Moore's got to get a bit of a grip. He hasn't managed to figure out the 'no Garrity' problem, and cannot seem to create a system to allow us to create chances. He's performing around expectations at the minute and that's fine, but needs to be careful this doesn't spiral. We've had this 'exciting' period of televised rivalry games, but we now need to get back to the bread and butter of routine 3pm wins without much fuss. Go back to being a bit under the radar and solid. A system change might be needed.

I'm happy with 2nd and firmly ensconced in the top 3. We're 4 games away from the January window and we have the best owner in the league. She'll be ready, again, to burn her money for this silly football club, whilst Walsall will be holding their breath that they hold onto Lowe without the financial resources. We're nowhere near crisis point yet but we need to see something very different against Bromley.

Don't go on social media, and if you do, don't bite. Get your Christmas shopping sorted and enjoy a pint. Walsall and our poorly ex-midfielder will be enjoying themselves, and rightly so, but today was reminiscent of our defeat at home to these in 21/22 - and we know how that season finished.

Least said about the game the better was as awful as weather .

Walsall deserved there win I'd have see thst goal again from Stocklety looked over the line to mee.

I was in hamil right behind it ,put it this way he should have hammered it in

Overall a pretty poor display from the Vale but then conditions were not very  good at all ,same for both teams but a Vale playing at a 5 out of 10 isn't good enough for a team at top of the table .

Effort was there but where's the confidence.

Having our poor spell .

Good see Byers back

Won't last for long

Walsall have a curse over Vale so no big deal

There fan̈s were fantastic .

Vale Some were encouraging but not enough were

How much did our support want it

Not enough
