The players have got to show the desire and passion , Do they want to get promoted or not # Don't lay it at the fans door that's not right

Why do they? They've been brilliant all season, had us top, last minute winners everywhere. They have a bad day and we have to sit in silence? It doesn't make any sense.

Why is your support conditional on the players having a good game? Surely it's the same, win or lose.

If we were on a 6 month winless streak/going down, then fair enough, but these players have been fighting hard for this club all season and winning a load of games. We were praising their battle against Crewe. They haven't stopped caring in the last week.

Completely disagree with having caveats to my support.

Fair comment.  Tripe.

Just got in.

Possibly the worst weather conditions I've ever seen.......but that was horrific.

They were hungrier and better in most departments.

All those saying rest Stockley to avoid a ban looked foolish as bizarrely we don't play our main striker at home.

Completely numbed by that today, bereft of any idea. Although Byers looked quality.

Walsall were as meh as can be. Lowe utter tripe. Yet they won at a canter. Actually posted in the summer it's a 44 game season as they completely have the hoodoo over us.

1 win in 5, playing pretty crap is very concerning. We are in limp mode. Ought to be over the horizon with this squad.

Walsall are a competent team, but come on that was truly abysmal.

We need to wake the fook up, sharpish.

Agree with that. The manager needs to wake up. He cannot build a team for promotion with this constant changing every week. It’s becoming silly now. We’re in an awful run of form and don’t look like scoring to win games. He’s got to sort this out he’s had a huge budget and he’s got to get it right.

Controversial view.

Thought we were shocking today. Absolutely zero effort to rally the players after the goal, then sat in silence for the rest of the half before booing semi-frequently. I'm not one to start chants but was joining in by myself from the back of the Railway at times. It was the same against Crewe. Off goes Harper and it's a morgue.

I get the argument that 'the performance was rubbish' but surely we can play a small part in whipping them up? This view that 'the performance was bad, ergo the fans must be silent' is nuts. Are we that reactive? Is our only job to react to the players' performances.

We're all jumping up and down, hooting and hollering when things go well (Vale on the drink, ole ole!) but a dip in form and we're storming out with 5 to go, silent for 45 minutes, booing a backwards pass.

We were bad today but Ripley's weird save doesn't get caught in the wind and we probably get a point. To mope in silence because we weren't going to be top anymore was pretty bad from us as a fanbase. We've got to take the initiative sometimes and drive them on!

Can’t blame that on a fan base but it’s what some fans do. If Moore picks a side we can get behind we will make a noise. If the players could be bothered to put an ounce of effort it, fans will get behind them. Today that didn’t happen. Nothing would’ve driven that lot on today. At 90 minutes they were playing as if we were 3-0 up. Awful and it shouldn’t be on us. I’m sick of hearing the manager say in interviews for us to get behind them and cheer them on. Pick a striker at home and make sure the lads try, you’ll get the noise you deserve.

Agree to disagree we didn't show enough desire or passion 2day and the team selection was ultra cautious

Someone once said that Port Vale fans demand a lot for their 300 quid, and I'm beginning to agree.

The prevalent idea on here is that if the players have a bad game (even if they're coming off the back of a historically long spell at the top of the league, and have lost twice in 14 games), then they don't deserve any noise made for them.

These team are scrappers. We've seen it twice in the past two games. Proper battle. Today they're off it and we sulk in silence.

Get behind them! They're good lads! PVFC is for life, not for 10 game unbeaten streaks.

I'm not blaming the fans. The players were poor. It's not 'on us'.

We should make a noise every game for this lot. We've been top for weeks ffs. It's not conditional. Can't believe people are viewing a very good, battling PVFC side in this way.

Both correct points there.

Also:

We should have chanted more second half.

What do you mean why do they? It’s there <ovf censored> job.

Last minute winners everywhere? Where?

A bad day? What about Gillingham, Barnsley, Crewe, Cheltenham?

Fans will not cheer players not putting effort it. It’s the most minimalist of requirements and should be a must of every player. It is not our job to cheer players on who can’t be arsed or a manager that thinks that picking no strikers (but 3 on the bench)  is the way to go at home. If they don’t try why should we cheer them?

There was a huge difference from the Crewe performance to that shower today. They didn’t want to be there.

Stop trying to turn this on the fans. 7k vale fans there again in that weather, it’s not our job to make the players try!

The fans aren't going to chant when players ain't putting the effort in

Your ever so vocal when we lose 🤣

We’ve scored 5 goals in 7 games with probably the best attacking players in the division. We’ve been <ovf censored> since Harrogate. We should be much better than a battling side. I’m sorry I completely disagree with you. They let us down and they don’t deserve to be cheered on when putting on next to no effort

It's fine mate, your support for players who have been top for weeks is conditional on whether you reckon they've fought hard enough, after battling for weeks to have us top of the table which you've been loving.

I tried to get behind them today as there was zero point sitting in silence. They deserve our backing through their efforts to this points. They clearly can be arsed and we'll get bad games in a 50 game season.
