Garrity is playing too far back

Ripley thinks he’s better than he is. He looks unfit. He moves too slow. He blames others and puts himself is strange positions.

col U made tactical changes and we were a one trick pony.

the only way to get out out this funk is to score more goals. You can’t do that with Garrity in a defensive midfield position.

what happened to Diamond and BBB? These guys would have run at them, won fouls, gained set pieces and it would be 4-0 up at 1/2 time

yes no

Ask the manager he seems happy for us to take the lead and instead of pushing on for more goals we are content to sit back that has to come from the manager and coaches  doesn't it  # attack is the best form of defence, jeez 😲

There is no way he was at full stretch. Ball was nowhere near the corner and he just pushed it right back into the box.

Any other keeper would've caught it 🙄

Embarrassing performance from a professional football club. I hope we never have Danny Cowley as manager.

I thought we were quite poor tonight. Lacking a bit of energy and everything we did was far too slow.

Not a good advert to get fans to turn up on a Tuesday.

Pray for Byers

There’s no denying that’s 2 points dropped tonight & we need to start putting teams to bed when we’re on top & in the lead. But I’m always looking for the positives & we are now 5 games unbeaten & in the playoffs. Onto Saturday which will be a big test 💪🏻

On an upbeat note, pleased for Jesse getting his first ever league goal - that will mean a lot to him. But I'm fuming at how we balked that up by losing possession and giving them chances for fun.  And we need to work on our first touch, since too often it becomes a pass to them, or a 50:50 challenge to retrieve it when it's run away from us, risking injuries and yellow cards. Not a good night.  We need to raise it for Saturday, because Notts won't be out to spoil the game, they will come at us.

Not sure what Moore sees with some players, strange line up tonight. Players on the bench better than the starting lineup. Where's Nathan Smith? we don't look solid at the back when teams get at us. Ripley cost us with a half hearted palm out. That was a dreadful watch tonight, our pedestrian walking football won't entice fans. To be honest a 1-0 win would have masked our deficiencies

I’m not going to moan about how Colchester played. That was on us. A game we’ve seen x 100 times. A Colchester goal was coming, it didn’t surprise me.

Stupid decision to bring Tolaj on. Not the player you want coming on to hold on to a lead. He makes the wrong decision constantly. So raw it’s untrue.

He also hasn’t been played in his actual position, as a nine, once yet.

Colchester frustrated us up until the opener. Going down at every opportunity, taking forever on throw-ins, goal kicks, etc. A classic Danny Cowley anti-football performance.
They then made several changes which ultimately we didn’t deal with. They were carving us open far too easily, and let’s be honest, it was only a matter of time before the goal.
Frustratingly, it was our mistake which led to their goal. At what point do we start to question Connor Ripley’s competence? He’s been god-awful for a while and seems as if he concedes every shot he bloody faces - awful.
I think Moore got it wrong tonight with his team selection. After Colchester’s heavy defeat, you would expect them to shut up shop and park the bus. So, I don’t think it was the right game for three at the back and the likes of Hackford, Sang, etc. We were crying out for width (Curtis, BBB & Richards) to open up space in the middle and to create gaps in between their CB’s and full-backs. By the time we’d done the right thing, we’d used four subs and that left us vulnerable to an expected spell of Colchester pressure if we’d managed to go in front, as it meant we wouldn’t have much scope to change personnel or formation.
A very disappointing night, and feels like two points dropped.
Let’s hope George Byers’ injury isn’t as serious as it looked, as we desperately need him in our midfield.

The annoying thing for me is we have all these attacking players and the manager seems content to set us up to play with the handbrake on it dunner make sense to me but it is what it is ,I hope we don't set up defensively on sat cos we'll get battered

Garrity playing deeper is an absolute waste of everybody's time, including his own. His strengths other than his engine are his finishing and his movement in the final third. Not passing, creating etc.

He's a very good goalscoring midfielder, teams are crying out for a player like that... play him further forwarrrrrrrd, he's definitely wasted in the deeper role.

Well, wasn't that after the lord mayor's show? As good as we were Saturday we were bad tonight, and against a much worse team. There was just no fluency, everything looked like it had to be forced, very clunky I  thought. I wasn't and usually aren't impressed with Ripley, for such a powerful guy he is a powderpuff with balls coming into the box. I also thought he should have done much better with the initial shot that he parried straight to their player for the goal.

Very disappointing performance and result and definitely two valuable points dropped.

You can blame Ripley for one individual error but ultimately, the line up, the style of play and the overall negativity at home is down to one man and one man alone.

And it isn't Ripley!!!
