Match thread: Port Vale v Doncaster Rovers, 31st Aug

Featured Replies

Last 8 mins game it a go.

Early days yet but crikey someone defensively take control 3 easily avoidable goals given away

Credit to Doncaster and there support .

As for Vale BBB did ok stockley should score and we are better with Byers and Croasdale in there .

A very sloppy afternoons work.

Man of the match on the pitch Croasdale

Off it the veggie pukka pie shone

3 terrible goals given away we spent most of the afternoon letting them play you don't let any good sides play we let them play .

Overall no complaints the better side won.

I will say this to my dying day, Carol will regret sacking DC.

Trajectory of the club shifted with his arrival and his departure. Things had clearly broken down but DC was the one time in the past 10 years we've been looking upwards, and he sort of did through force of personality alone.

Moore says he's disappointed about conceding in transitions, but I said in the first half we were vulnerable on the break because of the mad combination of: high-line; pace on their flanks; inexperience on the right side; lack of high press; inability to keep the ball effectively.

It's not disappointing if it's blatantly obvious!

Go back to the start of the season and I was as positive as anyone here. I said Moore gets a new chance along with owners. But I already see that he hasn't changed, and never will. He's a massive hindrance to what looks a very capable League Two squad on paper, despite the glaring issues at full-back. I really don't need to see another 10, 15 or 20 games under him to just come to the exact same conclusion.

Everybody has a right to an opinion on here,me saying it was a silly comment was to you keep saying sack him now etc because we all know that wont happen and you putting that wont make it happen either, there are many now who dont like his management style and right now that's totally understandable but you are getting like RZ was over DC. Anyway lets all hope that he turns it around and we go on a run because if he doesn't then you will get your wish and he will be gone and i would think that would be sooner rather than later as Carol wont want last seasons scenario

His time was probably up. But Carol made the mistake of replacing a quality lower league manager with a mate who never should have got the job, good a bloke as he was and still is. She then appointed Moore, making him out to be almost too good for little Port Vale, on the back of him getting laughed out of Huddersfield. You know you're in for a rough ride when not one single Huddersfield fan had a single positive thing to say about him. We're all seeing why.

Scoreline flatters a dreadful display. Buck stops with Moore - he has been given the players but I have no faith whatsoever that he has the managerial or tactical nous to make proper use of them.

Am trying to keep a level head as it is very early and we do have some really good players BUT your comment about Moore is what worries/niggles away at me as well.

There's a few "Patients" on here!!!!!

I'll be absolutely blunt and say that there's a very fair argument that we sack Moore soon and get Pete Wild in. That was that bad.

Or Ryan Lowe if we still want to pay a decent wage for a manager 🙂  either way if Moore went soon then whoever comes in somebody on here will dislike them from the start

But the same few keep making out as if I want to be proven right. When have I ever not been happy to eat humble pie here? Opinions are there to be changed and nothing would have pleased me more than for us to be sitting at or near to the top of the table right now. Instead we're closer to the bottom and have a manager who I genuinely believe has absolutely no idea what his best team is.

Patience when results are bad but performance good is rational.

Patience when, 23 games in, there are no promising signs is irrational.

Patience shouldn't involve lying to ourselves. We can see what's in front of us.

Desperately want it to come good as we all do after God knows how long of shambolic football. Big D is setting himself up for a massive fall here, he simply has to get us going, string a few results together and show some tactical nous or its possibly the end of his managerial career.
Hes been fully backed, has everything hes asked for and needs some convincing results and soon.
Conceeding 7 in two games is just the same old same old.
Too early to get rid but the clock is ticking.
I didnt even cheer when the penalty went in. Just the same empty feeling and disconnect from having my Vale soul sucked out of me for nearly 2 years now.
I cant simplify it enough, I just want us to convincingly win some fking games, for us to put 4 past someone in 45 mins of football.
It feels like asking and expecting the impossible. Early days but ffs,
Come on Vale

On the bright side we're only 3 points off a play off place 🤔🤣🤣

A rather short interview.

Just poor poor defending yet again. When are we going to learn!
