Vale didn't come out for the start  of the 2nd half, Donny were clinical and suddenly we're 3-1 down, they just then managed the game and kept falling over to get to the end..

There's no cover in front of the back 3 for Vale and their players were running directly at out back 3.

Wish Vale would go to 4 at the back and play a 4-3-3 or 4-2-4 with 2 central defenders, two attacking full backs, a defensive midfielder who stays back and at least 1 winger on the pitch.

Stockley's has to start up front, BBB real bright spot for Vale today, DM has to be more positive from the start.

Vale still look like a collection of individuals but will come good.

Their player Molyneaux was quality.

Why will we come good? What evidence is there to say for certain that under a wolly like Darren Moore, we will just come good down the line?

Seems like everyone wants to blame the manager and the tactics but ultimately two of the three goals we conceded were on long balls that were just completely misplayed by our CBs. That's not the manager's fault. We had our share of possession and chances at goal as well we just didn't do well with them.

We had chances at 1-3. They should have had a penalty and missed a sitter at 1-3. Defence is set up all wrong 5 at the back and we look vulnerable off every single attack. Can’t concede 7 in two and just say it’s all defensive errors. The set up is wrong

We have no pace at the back and I'm sick to the back teeth with this five at the back nonsense its not like our wing backs are producing high up our strikers are feeding off scraps we need wingers playing higher up one ball behind our wing back and we are all running backwards and that's not going to work with our painfully slow centre backs.

We looked much better with four at the back and BBB out wide higher up and I like paton but stockley is much better in the air and better holding the ball so if its one up top then he should be starting. Paton would be more effective as part of a front two but he isn't cutting it in the current formation.

I'm not completely downhearted but my early season confidence is all gone.

How was the setup negative? There was a lack of execution or irritatingly when Paton was on the pitch hitting the ball in the air to him. That’s not setting up negatively it’s just being stupid.

Paton is isolated upfront on his own

He needs a stockley up there with him

Playing five at the back doesn't work either because we're still conceding goals for fun

Play two wingers and two strikers and give the opposition a problem , like I've said before the current formation is to cautious you don't have to agree with me  tho 🙄👍

Managers players. Managers tactics. Managers team selection.

The manager picks the team and tells them what to do but it's on the players to follow through. If you want to criticize the manager on one thing, it would probably be letting them go out in the 2nd half asleep and concede in a minute but I don't think the tactics were to blame for that one either

Will have a read of the thread late for comedy value from the usual player z is <ovf censored>, Vale are <ovf censored>, DM is <ovf censored> posters.

Better today in spells but you can see we lack connections on the pitch and our thought process with movement and passing is 1 yard too slow.

I can’t believe how poor Heneghan and Hall were today. I will be amazed if they play that bad again all season.

Enjoyed watching Benicio, more of that please and I thought Cover had a decent debut.

Byers cameo looks like the player we are missing in the midfield.

Curtis didn’t look right today.

What was up with ref? Dreadful officiating, zero control of the game. The standard so far this season has been very poor.

Donny will be right up there. Look a good team at this level with the excellent Molyneux as an outlet.

Agree with everything there but facts are suggesting Darren Moore ain’t the man. His record is atrocious

Didn't you see how many times we passed the ball back or the lack of cutting edge and major fragility in defence where we conceded goals for fun or was all that just a bad dream 😳

Yeah then someone needs to be making off the ball runs. Too many players were too static. If you’re criticising fragility in defence isn’t that an argument for being more negative??

Take aways from me:

Cover, Tolaj, John and BBB good.

Croasdale excellent again.

Garrity really wasted deep.

Paton will never contribute played like he is.

Kyle John at RCB? WTF

Darren Moore - The 'name' that a load of you were clamouring for because you'd heard of him. Backed to the hilt by Carol but seems absolutely clueless. Playing Garrity where he is unforgivable

Just face it, Moore isn't up to it. Just as he wasn't at Huddersfield. 4 points from 12 with the players he has at his disposal is absolutely shocking.

What tactics?

I honestly don’t think it’s too early to pull the plug on Moore.
The man is totally clueless and probably needs a break from the game.

Nothing is going to change with his tactics.
Any fan expecting rip roaring football all of a sudden should give their head a wobble.

He is who he is. A decent man. But he’s not for this football club. He’s so far detached from the fans it’s untrue.

The right thing needs to be done now. Carol needs to get rid. Come October or November, when we’re 16th and 12 points off a play off place isn’t the time.

Darren Moore is like going on a date with a girl four times and you know she’s gonna cause trouble and grief but you keep dating her because you hope things are going to get better but deep down you know she will never bring you happiness.

Get him gone or just resign Darren.
No hard feelings as he’s a good man but he’s not Mr Port Vale and never will be.

We sat off them too much

And handed them the iniative

Having felt optimistic about the transfer window, after that performance I’m worried that the players we’ve signed are all just a mish-mash of different types that won’t fit one system or another. I can take defeats but today was incredibly disheartening, like we’d learnt precisely nothing from last week. And call me self-entitled, but I want a bit more than “making sure we stay in games” now we are back in L2.

You're not wrong, I just don't want him to receive 100% of the blame when the individual performances from our defenders have been shockingly bad. Heneghan has bricks on the bottom of his legs

Go back a fortnight ago. I got <ovf censored> here for saying we haven't played anyone yet when a lot of people were showering our defence with praise. We've played two good attacks since and conceded 7 goals. It could easily have been double figures.
