Deklan Wynne signed on a short term contract....So who is injured?  Debra?

Very odd news. Does the timing suggest he's straight in the squad tonight?

You would think he will at least be in the squad

Or it could spell the end of Grant and Jones for next season if he impresses unless like you say one or both are injured now for the last 5 games

Grant has started tonight and Debra is on the bench, no sign of our new man or Jones.

I suspect Moore doesn't rate Grant having worked with him for a few weeks. Otherwise the timing doesn't make sense as we could have signed Wynne weeks ago. Wynne probably wasn't signed in time for his registration to go through.

Didnt think you could sign free agents after the last Thursday in March?

Kasper has gone missing from the squad. Maybe he has been sent back to Barnsley ?

Which players can be signed after the January transfer deadline?

The only players that can be signed by Championship, League One and League Two clubs after the deadline passes are free agents. These are footballers who are not contracted to a club. Teams can sign free agents until a different deadline in mid-March.

There is, of course, nothing stopping clubs entering negotiations over future transfers ahead of the summer but these cannot be completed until the summer window opens.

There are myriad reasons why a deal may have taken till now to complete. Perhaps he had alternative offers to consider? Perhaps he wanted to take his time over committing to moving country for such a short deal? Perhaps there were family and other commitments why he couldn't agree earlier? Perhaps the club were unsure on whether he was the right choice until recently? The timing could really be any of a load of reasons, not all connected purely to football.

As you say although he was at the club on trial before Moore said they'd decided to let 3 trialists leave. Could be there were 4 trialists at the club and they were trying to keep it quiet; although someone had posted his picture on here weeks ago. It could be linked to him getting a British passport. I believe he was born in South Africa and has a New Zealand passport.  In theory he is young enough to apply for a youth mobility visa but there is an exemption that prohibits Australian and New Zealanders from working as professional sportsmen.

According to BBC sport Ten Haag is looking for a goalscorer for Man Utd for next season - I guess we could offer him one of ours [emoji6]

Sounds to me that this is the first of the new signings for next year.

Strange time to announce a signing?

Hope we don't end up fielding an ineligible player and go down because of it 😄
