If players cannot deal with criticism with the rewards they get they need change job.

Criticism is only valid if what witnessing deserves be criticised.

Praise will be heaped upon players when consistently playing well .

Last season and prior 6 months before so altogether last 18 months deserves some form of criticism.

We have lost so many games .

People who love the Vale should never be accepting of losing any game .

A striker is only as good as the service, he gets how often is a Port Vale set piece a good set piece ,with huge centre  half heading into area where striker can benefit .

Last how many seasons we have a centre half who's brilliant at heading balls away in own area but totally ineffective in other teams area, how can that be .

Is it the ball in

Or lack of desire get on end of ball in

Like I say a team is only as good as its players.

8 new players hopefully will make the difference and the strikers will score if the supply is good .

I think the supply might just be .

The fact a team payed money for Loft is very telling .

They see something in him I hope he gets the service required to reward there outlay.

Even if he gets the service, the ball will likely end up in Row Y or Z. It's not like he never had chances to score in a Vale shirt, poor as we often were.

What if the loan player doesn’t work out and we want to get rid to bring in a better loan?

Can’t have it both ways.

Well we don't select him and that triggers the appearance call back clause

The Utd fans will write off and disregard Loft's spell at Vale off and dismiss us as a 'basket case'

I’d have agreed with them last season except Wilson and Uche were still more convincing than Loft was.

It does seem odd that the worst strike force in memory has gone on to better things. Uche arguably with a Scottish Prem move, Wilson and Loft go to League 1. Yet our best performer in league 1 in Harrison gets to sit on a league 2 bench all last season!

Personally I'd have Hendo lower in the list behind 1) Loft, 2) Geohagen, and 3) Delgado. I saw Hendo have a few (albeit only a few) decent games - I think what clouded most peoples view of him is that he was bought in to replace a cult hero in Newton - unforgivable !

Derek Monaghan, Kevin Steggles and Colin Miles. They were 3 of the worst players I saw. Made me think I was in the wrong profession...

1994/1995 wasn't a bad season for transfers. Tony Naylor, Stewart Talbot, Lee Glover, Steve Guppy and Ian Bogie all brought in emoji16.png

We were spoiled then. The footie during those times was fantastic

Someone commented on loans and making sure there were no loan recalls. It is possible but for better loans the loaning club does hold all the cards. Devine and Arblaster wouldn't have been loaned to us without a recall clause.

Personally I think we need a 4th forward but not too sure how Moore will go about it. 4 2 3 1 and 4 3 3 you only really have 1 central strikers on the pitch. Not sure we'd attract a good central striker as 4th choice behind the 3 we already have. The great unknown is injuries.  If 2 of the 3 get longterm injuries then the 4 striker will probably get a lot of game time. If they don't then he is only going to play a handful of games and Curtis (who has played there for about half a season), Garrity and Buah who plays all 3 forward positions are probably adequate cover. He may leave it until the end of the window and bring in a loan, maybe someone released from an Academy or someone comfortable playing centrally as a 10 or 9.

Kevin steggles every long ball he played down the line ended up in Lorne street
He was woefully bad

I didn't think Kevin steggles was that bad tbh. I thought Craig James was amazing when on loan but when he signed permanent he became one of the worst

Steggles played well against Spurs in FA cup

Anyway back on to transfers
What’s everyone think we need ?

I’m thinking

Right back cover although Ojo has played there in the past

Right attacking mid

Big no nonsense beast of a centre half

Another striker now Loft has gone

Oh come on mate, Monaghan must get some brucie bonus points for his spot on Shirley Temple curly perm - I was always dead jealous of that 😍😍😍

I would like to see Josh Thomas back and given more of a run in the team (not likely now I know) but always thought he was by far the sharpest of last years bunch of "strikers"

It's Friday.  Have we signed anybody yet?

If there’s such a thing, all loans will vary from one to another & come with all sorts of different clauses or some maybe none at all. I don’t think & hope we aren’t looking into the loan market too much. With the signings we’ve made there will only be 1 or 2 anyways for a bit of squad depth you’d imagine

A 16 year old kid came into the same side and scored goals.
